There were roads full of slush, rains increasing the difficulty level after every turn. The roads taking you to the remotest place where there is no one to help you out in case the road converts into a stream of river and pplaces where one has to push other’s bike for him to climb the ascend…
Yeah, we were on one such ride. The ride to the Sach, The truth… ![]() More to follow soon...

Day 1: Chandigarh – Manali – Rohtang Pass – Kokhsar – Sissu
We started our day pretty early so that we could reach Manali on time and scale Rohtang lazily. At 7 in the morning, we halted at a dhaba in Bilaspur to have breakfast and then moved on after spending an hour there. It was a smooth ride all the way through with sun playing around with those water filled clouds. We reached Manali at around 12:30, and stopped after crossing it. Till now, we rode without any problem or glitches but little did we know what was in store for us. As we finished our lunch and sat on our beloved bikes, I felt a drop of water on my face and it did not took long for others to follow. After an hour, i was standing at Marhi, all wet and the rain had not stopped yet. I waited for my ride partner to come, so that we can move forward. After another hour, I was standing just a couple of KMs far from Marhi, getting drenched and waiting for the jam to clear up so that I can ride on. After some time, I saw a small clearance between two trucks; I rode through it and was able to get ahead on the road. One more hour gone and I have scaled only a few more KMs. I was at most 3 – 4 KMs away from the jam. This time, I was not stuck in the jam but I was pulling out a Motorcycle. Archit had to give pass to a truck coming from opposite side and went towards the Hill. Little did he know that he would land his Motorcycle into half feet of slush… After around five mins of deliberation, we were able to get it out and move forward. Was it raining? YES Another hour went by. I am around 5 more KMS from the top and questioning the stranded truck drivers about a red bullet. With no one to reply, I moved forward. There was a truck in front of me and going in the direction as i. I followed suit, taking advantage of the tire marks to negotiate with the slush which has gone up to at least a feet now. Soon, I hear people shouting and asking me to go back. Confused, I looked at the truck before me and the very sight of it unleashed the horrors in me. The truck was coming back… or rather, it was sliding back. The tires were trying the level best to keep it moving forward but the incline and slush made sure i felt the ultimate horror of my life. Three army jawans rushed in with huge boulders and placed them behind the truck’s rear tyres. I tried to move forward, pass by the truck but by now my bike was stuck in the slush and army jawans had to push it. We somehow negotiate with the steep incline and I parked my bike at a safe place. I finally spot Archit in between the stranded trucks and I holler on to him and wave towards him so that he can spot me and come forward. Till now, that sliding truck somehow ascended the incline and Archit started to ascend. The slush was so that I along with three other guys had to push his ‘Oh-so-heavy’ bullet up the incline. After 5 mins of catching our breath we started interacting with people standing there. Three foreigners had clutch plate-burned-bullets while one guy from south had a gear box-damaged-bullet. There were two other guys with worn out spirit and they could not even think of moving forward. And yes it was raining… Finally, we reach the Rohtang top at 5 p.m and the rain had subsided by then. We stop at a tent and order tea along with a bottle of water. It was then, that we realized how wet and cold we were. Soon we started to descend towards Kokhsar from where we plan to go towards Batal and then to chandertaal. The roads on the other side of the pass were only a tad bit better than this side. We reached Gramphoo at 6, yes that is 18 KMs in an hour, and tried to figure out our options. After consultation with few locals and people coming from Batal side, we decided to leave it for the next time and move on to Kokhsar to get some accommodation for the night but could not find any. Reason being, there were people running from pillar to post, all of them stranded coz of the rain and they also wanted to get some accommodation. After 15 mins, it was clear that there was no room available there and we decided to go till Keylong if required to get a room for the night. At Sissu, we came across a PWD Rest house and to our luck, there was only a single room vacant over there. A few fone call to the superintendent and alas… Finally we have a room to stay for the night. Get warm and dry so that we can ride again. It has been an interesting day but tiring nonetheless and we had to cover much more. With this thought in my mind, I go off to sleep.
