Guys.. does anyone have any idea about choosing the right Octane number fuel for our bikes ? Know that higher comression ratios need fuel with high octane number. But does anyone have any detail on it ?

Hi,

My ZMA is now 2 months old.Since day 1 I have ben using xtra premium. Is it really needed for ZMA.I have read somewhere that bikes with compression ratio 9:1 or above should stick to fuels with octane number 90+...How far is it true..???Plz advise....I dont find any perfomance diffence between mine and my friend's ZMA who uses normal petrol...

Well Normal Fuel is way more better then using those fuels with additives

The Speed - XtraPremium - and other stuffs are nothing but a few additives added into the Normal Fuel. They will not do a major change in your engine's Efficiency or Performance.

Instead there is no Surity that these Fuels are really a Speed or Xtrapremium - Many Bunks still put Ordinary Fuel and commit it as the Additive Fuel and claim money...............

So using Ordinary petrol is the Cheapest way and all the Indian bikes we have can run better in Ordinary Fuel - rather than those additive fuels.

All the manufacturers use the same Raw materials to manufature the Fuel
The only difference is that they are selling them in different Brand Names

You can go for any Brand - but choose a single Bunk - a bigger one - where you can be sure of that the Fuel sold there is of Purity one

The Direct Company outlets will be a good option

Check the compression ratio .. for most bikes in India it is 10.5:1 or lower. So ordinary petrol will do. Higher the compression ratio, larger the octane number required.

Brand wise the best brand is a reliable petrol bunk. Any sign of cheating anywhere and don't fill it there again. The petrol may be adulterated.
