@Niranjan and chilled fire: See this:

There is no 95 octane being sold in India as of now.
@rossiter: thanks for the link. It appears that he fuel pump attendant misled me into this figure. Will confirm at the fuel bunk and see if he has any evidence on this.

@chilled: I was told that it is 95 octane...if it isnt, I am plannin to screw the @$$*&^&* for this...not that the fuel is bad...but for the misleadin information.

...and you are referring to Shell and not Bharat Petroleum?

Yup both. BP used to sell Speed 93 but that also stopped. So now we have 91 and 97 in the premium fuels.

The octane number of all the fuels sold is 91 , just that premium petrol have additional additives to keep the engine clean.Although speed 97 has a 97 octane number.

Dudes anyone, Please answer a small query...

I am in Ajmer, a smaller city than Jaipur. I always fill in "Speed" Petrol in my P180. There is nothing such as Speed 97 written on it...

So, which octane rating fuel is it? Is it just a "cleaner 91 octane" or 93 Octane? Thanks in advance ...

speed 97 is sold as SPEED 97 , costs 10rs per litre more than normal fuel (in pune)

all other fuels , (normal)unleaded , speed , xtra premium , power are 91 octane fuels.

So, I'm paying 5 Rs/ Litre Extra for 91 octane fuel ... Pathetic! Anyways, it's just a small amount for me.

Still, I wonder what the benefits of "Speed" would be, compared to normal 91 octane?

                  Anyways, Thanks bro ...

                      Sorry, can't remember exactly normal fuel's price ... but for Premium = 58.40 ...

That's all I remember. Maybe that should be 3 rs. difference only...

                          Bike: Pulsar 220

                          Petrols tried / Mileage given:

Bharat Petroleum (normal) : 33 kmpl (normal city riding)

Bharat Petroleum (speed): 37 kmpl (90% sane riding + 10% occasional ripping)

Indian Oil (normal): 36 kmpl (90% sane riding + 10% occasional ripping)

Indian Oil (Extra Premium): 40 kmpl (80% sane riding + 20% ripping )

HP: I put only 3 liters so I cannot comment.

These are just my observations and I might be wrong. I use top-up method of calculating mileage.

                            Fuels

My Dad uses Extra Premium for the car and it works.
I use Speed and it seems to give me a higher top speed(not too sure)
but i;ve noticed that one should not, i repeat, SHOULD NOT, mix fuel types ... coz it scr*ws the engine.

                            Thats all
                            Regards,

speed 97 showed some improvement over the ordinary speed. i was using it in my RTR fi...the difference is not very noticeable when switching from ordinary to 97 but when you get back to ordinary it shows....

btw..the price of 97 is 70 bucks a litre..it has not come down....
