First of all, Welcome to xBhp!
The Dio is very good for a college-goer like you.. I too used my Dio during my college-days. Pls do take enough test rides of the Dio before you put your money on it. Personally, I think it has a very stiff suspension, & it gives me a back-ache if i ride it even for a couple of Kms..
Regarding the FZ-16, its a great bike.. It does look a bit macho & big, but consider wearing a jacket. Will look stylish, will make you look less skinny, plus it will save you from the weather..
The Fz-16 will return you a mileage of around 40-45 Kmpl. So if you want something more than that, pls consider buying a bike lesser than 150cc. All automatic vehicles (Dio, Access, Kinetic & the like) will anyways return you a mileage no more than 40-45 Kmpl..

Regarding buying a bike for 75k, Vs. a Dio for almost half, a Dio can never give you the fun & satisfaction, that riding a geared bike will give you..

& yeah, I hope you already have a DL. If not pls get it at the earliest.

All the best!

My test-ride experience of the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post725556

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back;
and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

You say looks matter to you then how can you consider a dio ? Its for girls

Well the Fz does have low mileage [around 40] .
If you planning to buy FZ do get a leg guard installed on it . Fz also has higher service costs than Dio .

Another Option is Honda stunner . simple bike that give you 60 mileage . looks fine though engine aint Smoothest or refined .Nearly As light as Fz .

RTr 180 also there 40-45 mileage with amazing power .you be the envy of the college .Bit heavier than Fz/Stunner/Dio .
See if your legs reach ground in all bikes

also weight of these bikes are nothing ,youl get used to them after few months. i also felt bikes weight when i bought my rtr last year and couldnt even put it on the center stand easily but now i feel RTr very easy

Be careful and get practice riding atleast for 20-30 days [personal experience]

Yup... Fz all the way..

Code:
But importantly I learnt to drive a geared bike only 2 weeks ago(i was riding on a gearless one before).
Dont worry we are all learning how to ride and every day we learn something new. So instead of cribbing that you are new to geared motorcycles, Ride more and more and once you start riding you get accustomed.
Go ahead and buy any bike that YOU like. If you like the Dio buy that.

As u have short listed two sexy lookin machines, u better go for both!
Buy a new FZ and an used DIO; cause if u buy a new dio, u cant part with it so easily and if u buy an FZ, u wont bother to look @ a dio.

My limitations are..
1. I still haven't reached perfection riding a bike(geared only!)
2. I'm worried if Fz looks too macho for a skinny guy like me.
3. I need something which is durable.
4. Im a college going guy so looks are important.

Even though i have made up my mind on either dio or fz other suggestions would be welcome.

I do have mileage in consideration.
definitely go for FZ..dont worry even a new rider can get used to fz coz its that damn simple to ride[u will feel like riding a bicycle].just take a test drive and you will feel what i meant to say .I too was not much a good rider before buying FZ as it entirely digged out the rider inside me,dont go for Dio coz itz a scooter and mostly meant for elder people and girls & that too you are a college guy so never think of that, dont look for mileage if your option is in between these 2.fz is a muscular short bike so it can fit to any kind of people. You can zip around ur college with this Macho machine...

any how its up to you to choose ur machine,,my opinion is FZ...YES YAMAHA

@pali :-Why you are running away from geared bikes ?It wont take long time to learn riding...you are 5'5...and you'll look good on rtr
