Hmmmm... its time i stepped in...

I have owned (still own) the first version Karizma for over six years now. It is the one of the best machines India has ever since. No really. But it does come with its own share of issues / niggles / problems.
I have also used a 220 (the fi one) for close to an year and that was a superb bike. But again, with its own set of issues.

No bike is perfect. No machine is perfect. Be it a Honda or a Bajaj. You have to make compromises with every product in life. The ZMA might cost more, but there is a reason behind it. The 220 might cost less but will come attached with its own share of issues.

Overall, the ZMA might have an edge in terms of reliability and smoothness or its touring capabilities but the 220 hits back hard with VFM, performance and goodies. As i said, its a compromise one has to make with products.

If you have the money, go for the ZMA. If you want a product that shouts VFM, the 220 is the obvious choice. there is really no winner here.

Truly Said, Appreciate what you wanted put across!

Till date the people that have ZMA do not regret, the problem that your model had of the timing chain and the tensioner has been removed upto 95% in the new ZMA-r and the Carb which is still the same has been, but the inner jet of the same has been reduced to reduce the comment's of the people like what they used to say:

"Ye to AVG bohot kam deti hai.."

220 is also one of the products that Bajaj has launched, but what not has been the problem in it, ZMA was launched in Mid 2003 and i dont think i have ever heard any kind of problem in it, be it any minor or major issue!

ANY DAY, You can trust Upon ZMA!

Looking at the every post, opinion after opinion, experience after experience, preference after preference, affinity after affinity and hearsay after hearsay, I am sure we have managed to confuse the thread starter beyond recovery
For laying all the forthcoming replies to rest, please go ahead and buy the ZMA...as I once wrote somewhere earlier, the comparison between the ZMA and P220 is like comparing Sachin and Sehwag (in that order)
Sachin: Technically competent, silent performer, refined, mostly reliable but can have patches where he scores nothing and invokes fear in opponents
Sehwag: Technically not the most perfect, Moderately unreliable; though improving with every inning, dominating, when he gets going he trounces opposition and scares the hell out of opponents.

Heck, all the captains would want to have both of them in their team

@MODS: sorry for the OT; I guess it's time to lock this thread (suggestion).

Bunny Sir, Thanks for your precious lines and time I was stupid enough to drag you into this needless P220/Zma war.
(I have sent request to Sidharth Basu, you'll meet Rajeev Khandelwal on 187th episode of Sach ka Saamna - jk)

Thanks for your views Bunny. As is expected from you, a very mature view.

The thread starter has replied once probably in the entire course!

From what I see, this thread has run its course. Time to shut it down till the thread starter wants it re-opened with a valid reason.

Discussion Closed!
