Since '02 xBhp is different things to different people. From a close knit national community of bikers to India's only motorcycling lifestyle magazine and a place to make like-minded biker friends. Join us
Ever since its inception in 2002, xBhp has always been about the motorcycling community. Nearly two decades later, this ever-growing community has grown leaps and bounds. All this while, we have put the biker above the bike and that is what laid the foundation for our 'i, The Biker' philosophy. It is more than a mere term or a phrase. It is an emotion, a movement. To that end, we have come up with a program to bring out inspirational stories of bikers all around India. Aptly named "i, The Biker", this series intends to highlight unheard stories from bikers like you and have them heard through the various platforms of xBhp; print magazine, social media, and website.

BikesThe true joy of life lies in chasing your dreams regardless of how unconventional they may seem. And while a lot of people are going to stand in the way of your dreams, you always have someone right by your side to set you off on the path to your dreams. Suparna Sarkar was born for motorcycling and while it was quite unconventional for a woman to ride a motorcycle, that did not deter her from chasing her dreams.
Suparna is a motorcycle training instructor who runs an academy in Gurgaon by the name of School For Training of Aspiring Riders. She has been riding motorcycles for more than 12 years now and owns seven motorcycles at the moment. She’d like to add more to her collection but the seven she has are all very close to her heart.

So far, Suparna has trained more than 200 people including those as young as 16 and as old as 59 years old. It is a matter of great pride for her that all of them are riding motorcycles actively in different parts of the world.
The story of how it all started for Suparna is also an interesting one and it boils down to a Facebook message in 2016 that changed her life. Someone texted her asking to be a ride marshal for their superbike dealership. That is where her life changed and she started to look at life from a motorcyclist’s point of view.
After all that, she has now been training people to ride a motorcycle for the past three years and it has been more than a year since she started her own academy. With great pride, she tells everyone and some of her trainees have been to places that she has not ridden to so far!
Motorcycling has grown leaps and bounds in India and Suparna believes that it is because people see it as medication and meditation. It is a getaway for so many people who are looking for a change or a break from their routine lives.
Her most memorable ride was with her father as they rode to India Bike Week which was held in Amby valley. Riding a Jawa, the father-daughter duo rode for more than 400 km, fully geared up and being true bikers. Her excitement went through the roof when her 70-year-old father expressed his desire to ride to Pune for India Bike Week.

Suparna sees her father as an amazing person who has been a pillar of support and strength for her. Always supportive of his daughter’s choice to ride motorcycles, a big part of who Suparna is was crafted by her father. She also believes that if her father, at the age of 70, is willing to ride a motorcycle and travel, there is not a lot stopping anyone out there from doing the same.

She also thinks that one meets the best people. She has met so many fantastic people who she would not have met if it was not for motorcycling. And there are all kinds of motorcyclists out there. Some are doctors, some engineers, some businessmen, and some homemakers; all from different fields and doing their work but at the end of the day, they are all bikers and that is what connects us all. And that is why, when you meet a biker, it does not matter what kind of motorcycle you ride or where you belong; out there, we all belong to motorcycling and we all share the love for travelling and exploring the world on two wheels.
Such is her passion for motorcycling that even her marriage had a role for motorcycles to play. She rode a bike on the day of her wedding which according to her was a very exciting and unique experience. Both, she and her husband Surya, rode entered the venue riding two Indian Scouts.

For the people out there, she has a message: “When you are out there on the road, you are inspiring a lot of people and setting a lot of examples. And for that very reason, you must always be a responsible and safe rider. Also, if you’d like other people to behave well with you, be it in life or on the road, you have to behave well and that is what leading by example is all about.”
Lastly, she believes that life is a journey like every motorcycle ride. There is no rush so take it easy, ride safely, and make the most of the experience. One never knows what the next moment might bring so whatever there is, it is there right now.
