Jet Car :: On Water In Dubai

N/ACC N/ABHP N/ANM

The xBhpPowerTour 2023 has been fun so far. From the most comfortable to the most ferocious, I have tried riding and driving all kinds of vehicles. But this one, in particular, was the most unique experience of not only the xBhpPowerTour 2023 but of my life! You can probably already see it in the pictures. It looks like a car but it is not terrestrial. It is aquatic and that makes the Jet Car experience I found in Dubai a ton of fun.

There is a lot to do in Dubai. I have been here numerous times, exploring places and driving some of the choicest vehicles. But Dubai keeps reinventing itself so you rarely run out of things to try. This includes things to try for automotive enthusiasts like me. The Jet Car is one of those new things I stumbled upon on this visit. What makes it so special though? After all, there are speed boats or jet skis that you can try.

What makes the Jet Car stand apart is the fact that it is as close to a car as it can get. Nearly everything is replicated and it is not limited to the appearance either. You even get a windscreen wiper, which incidentally, you’ll need to use a lot. Since they’re designed to look like sports cars, they can accommodate two people at a time.

Inside, you get all the car stuff. A real steering wheel. A real gear selector. And a pedal too. However, it does not have a brake pedal so to slow down, you just have to ease up on the gas. The centre console has buttons to control the lights and the windscreen wipers, complete with a small GPS screen on the dash. Moreover, there’s also a stereo system but I think you probably won’t even try it.

The Jet Car not only looks like a sports car but goes like one too. It has a top speed of 54 knots or roughly 100 km/h. That may not seem like much but when you’re skipping and skimming over the surface of water at that speed, it might well seem like 200 kays an hour! It took me a while to get used to it but once I did, I realized that slides come a lot easier on water and there’s no smoke, just sprays of water!

Despite being a newer activity, everything was very sophisticated when it came to experiencing the Jet Car. From the registration to the training that works regardless of your experience. The instructors have years of experience and they ensure that you enjoy every bit of it with safety. The instructors are with you every step of the way and there’s also a safety boat that accompanies you on your trip. Moreover, I was told that the Jet Cars are designed and manufactured under stringent regulations and quality control is robust.

In terms of booking, you can simply show up and get going. The only thing you have to have is a valid state identification or its equivalent. One also has to be 18 or older. Then you can rent the Jet Car for 15 minutes or even 5 hours if you fancy. Overall, it was a very unique experience and it is something that you ought to try if you’re visiting Dubai. After all, not a lot of people get to drive a sports car on water… except Bond.
