    Planned upgrades, seat
The seat is horrible. Don't know why they provide so puny a saddle. Through the seat even the smallest of imperfections on the road can be felt. I am not a hardcore mountain biker, rather i like a relaxed riding so seat is important for me.

How much I miss the seat of hero. Even my old Rockshox had this seat problem and later it was solved with spring seats. Will look out for the same.Planning to buy the same old hero seat with springs or an after market seat.

Don't change the saddle. Yet. Ride for a few 100 kms then think of changing the saddle.

That's not my house. It's the place where I work and I stay in the same premises.
The place is in Kerala, kottayam. Except cities most of the places looks like this in Kerala with lush greenery. Especially in photos it looks great.

Your butt might not yet been run in completely Give it time.

Your saddle is probably too low. You must realize that a cycle does not have a seat but a saddle, the weight of your body should not be on your butt, but on your feet. As you get fitter you will be able to put more weight on your feet and less on your butt. Thus your butt will hurt much less. You are supposed to perch your butt on the saddle and not sit on it.

If you put broad seats from the Indian cycles, you will end up chaffing your skin near the groin area, which can be quite painful. Imagine having to walk around with your legs spread out like a bollywood goonda, believe me not a lot of girls will find you attractive

Saddle problem is solved now an I am happy with the current position.i have increased the saddle height to the optimum. With the current saddle height I am comfortable.

              LOL.

Now continuing with the riding experience..
It's more than one month since I bought the cycle. I think I have finished the running in period.
Total distance ridden over one month is 410 KMS

The first ride was horrible after all these years. I was panting and gasping out of breath, moreover as I told before its a hilly place.
I even got skeptical about the decision of buying this bike. A good stretch of plain road is difficult to find. The first day I rode about 4 kilometers, I really thanked myself for buying the water bottle. I almost gulped down the whole bottle of water after a 6 kilometers ride. Took rest and cooled myself off and rode back. I could feel the tightness of all the muscles of the leg . By evening I had small muscle pain as I was leading a good sedentary life.
From then on riding has become a routine every morning. The worst part is getting up early morning as I sleep late night. But out of my love for biking I some how get up.
Gradually I am gaining the stamina. Early days I had to drink water and the gasping for breath was more. Over the days Slowly my stamina increased and the distance too increased from 12 kms to 15 kms.
Now a days I comfortably ride 20 kilometers. If it was the plains I could have easily covered almost twice the distance provided I get more time for riding. The maximum distance I have covered on the bike is 32 KMS.
Of all the aches butt ache was the major one and that too recovering very slowly.
So I thought of getting a better saddle. I liked the one with springs on the saddle and after some searching in various shops I got the one I want.
I didn't want something too wide as MONK told it can lead to chaffing of the groin area.
So I bought something that is not too wide or too narrow.
The saddle is an indian made one with springs and is quite comfortable.
Through the original saddle i could feel everything that's on the road.
But the spring seat soaks up the irregularities better and the spring is not so soft. Moreover I weigh only 56 kgs.
Well, I can't comment much about the weight of bike but lugging, its difficult than a hybrid.

                @ 56kg you shouldn't have required a bigger saddle

Glad to know that you are enjoying riding and increasing your daily mileage.

Post a pic of the saddle that you bought

I am a bit skinny, so its bones sitting on the hard seat.

This one I bought after doing a little bit of search as some were too wide. some had super hard springs. As u weigh less i didnt want those hard springs.
I like the size of the OE seat and wish it had the springs of the seat I bought

The seat costs only 180 INR so I thought I will just try it. Hero seats are even cheaper at 120INR but with wide seat and hard springs.

Re: Scott Aspect 670, My New GREEN Ride!

As of today I completed 875 KMs on the bike and its exactly 2 months since I bought the cycle.
First things first, rode almost 450 kms on the new seat, the seat is pretty good, the greatest advantage being the roads feel better now as the spring dampens the rough terrain effectively. The only problem I find with the seat is the material used for the cover, its sort of sticky type. I stay planted on the seat so that I can't change the position easily or adjust myself. Maybe I should try for a better cover for it. Last day I changed back to the old saddle and though I can feel the road as such the butt sore has gone. I think my butt is seasoned now. Apart from the stiff ride the original saddle is comfortable but again with max tyre pressure the comfort is on the bad side.
Monsoon has arrived, tough time cycling. Only relaxed rides no fast pedaling. It's so refreshing riding in the rain.
Fast pedaling is very limited, pedal at around 5-10 kms per hour as the cycle is devoid of a fender.
I love rain and riding in the rain.
I hate monsoon only for one single reason its difficult to clean up the bike.
As i said before there are no mudguards on the cycle. You can ride fast Unless you don't mind the slush and mucks of the road.
All the dirt from the front wheel is somehow very precisely directed into the eyes.
Another tedious procedure(to me) is cleaning the muck from the derailleur and the rings since its a geared bike. So I don't want to ride faster.
On my first cycle the MTB I deliberately removed the mudguards and the carrier for that cool look and I used to ride in rain with out the mudguards as I ride slow through the water. Those days I rode a little early so that even if I go slow I could reach the destination in time.
If I had to go fast the only way was to get a liberal spray of muck and water on my back.

At times I used to fit the mudguards during the rain and once the monsoon is over its again back to the naked look.
Now I want a mudguard very badly as the place is hilly and I have a lot of downhill rides. I hate to go slowly downhill as it take away all the fun for all the climbs I do. The place is ups an downs only. One climb followed by a downhill. So I want to enjoy the most.
But the problem with the new generation cycle mudguards is the same that we face with modern bikes. Flying fenders maybe the talk of the town and the mudguard has become a style statement. So manufactures are reducing their size and length day by day.
End result is that they don't serve the purpose.
Guys who use a KTM or FZ knows how difficult a task is to clean up the bike after riding in rain
Same is applicable with the cycle too.
These new generation mudguards lack the length and breadth. It's only advantage is that it prevents some of the dirt that is thrown. But still the derailleurs are not spared.
Cleaning of the old cycle was much easy as it didn't had gear
Geared bikes its difficult to clean as there is the derailleur. Moreover its position on the bike make sure that even the slightest specks of dirt is not missed.
So if I can get and fit a coventional type of mudguard (though it take away the looks) it would be well
I can see mount points on the chain stay but the front suspension is lacking the holes for the fender stay.
So most probably I have to do some minor tweaks to fix it.
                        Right now searching for fenders.

yes, you will have to do a jugaad for getting desi mudguards on your bike. It is quite irritating to clean the cycle, derailleurs and then ones face

Make sure your derailleur and chain is properly lubed in the rain. Never use grease.

What air pressure are you maintaining?

Bought the mudguards last day. The quality is average and the paint job is worst of all. The gauge of metal used is on the thin side, but serve the purpose well.
Total cost including stays 250 INR.
Now I have to some tweaks to fix it on the bike.
For the rear one I had to get a clamp to hold the centre part to the seat stays.
The front suspension lacks the eyelets for the stays. I have to find someway to fix it. Will post the pictures of my DIY.

Make sure your derailleur and chain is properly lubed in the rain. Never use grease.
Currently I use motor oil, its ok but during the rain and after washing it won't stay there. So after cleaning up the bike, lubes the chain.

What air pressure are you maintaining?
I don't have a pump with meter so I am assuming I am not either on the higher side or on the lower.
