  • Thanx to XBHP

Hi all, I am Anand Sharma from hisar, haryana, pursuing C.A. Used to ride motorcycles from last 6-7 years, was going to purchase suzuki gs150r, but just glanced at Bicycle section of XBHP.com. I got inspired from some of the posts and thought that I should give it a try. Dump the idea of purchasing motorcycle and brought an suncross double-suspension mtb for 6k, without much knowledge, was just eager to start cycling. My inspiration behind cycling was that its environment-friendly and health-friendly.

My first ride of 12 kms. made me sweat a lot. I thought its not my cup of tea. But something from withing was inspiring that I should not give ups so early. After two weeks I became comfortable with my commuting distance of 24 kms. (to & fro).

Some of my friends and neighbors commented that its not practical to commute by bicycle, someone said only low-class people commute by bicycle, another one said you can save time if u commute by motorcycle etc. etc.....

I debated with them, that ur thoughts are wrong, its very much practical, cycling is very much popular among rich ones also etc. etc...... and challenged them that I will prove it. But they just said...huh

After 6 months of hard-work, I reduce my weight by 8 kgs., increased my avg. speed to 30 kmph., increased my commuting distance from 24 to 40 kms. just to increase my stamina and power.

Now I upgraded from suncross mtb to Cannondale F5. And all of those people gave me weired kind of look when they looked at the bike and said is this kind of bikes available in India. I received comments like, it rides better than my motorcycle, its looks awesome, 27 speed gear box, its so light and maneuverable etc. etc...

One local daily (dainik Bhaskar) covered me with the bike & apprecialted my dedication towards cycling and environment conservation. Now most of those negative minds started behaving positively but some are still not. Now I use to receive attention of people as if i m riding a super bike. Those who rejected my idea of cycling now just envy me.

This is my story of cycling. Did u faced situation like this. If yes, pls. share.

All this just because of XBHP.com, who made me interested in cycling- the best way of commuting. so thanx to XBHP.

Hello Anand Sharma, Salute to you my friend!

You are an inspiration, man! Thankyou for starting this thread. Yes indeed, bicycles is one healthy means of transportation and commuting and keeps the health in good shape.

Glad to hear you are keeping the spririt of biking alive through your Cannondale F5. And ya, nice bike, haven't seen one like yours so far. 27 speed gear! Thats 21-22 times more that what motorcylces have!
Trully I say you Cannondale F5 is a beauty.....

Sophisticated! a piece of admiration! (few of your close-up pics I like)

I used to see a guy named Anthony staying in the more plain locality who use to ride a bicycle though he has an eliminator and a taxi. I used to get inspired by his attitude towards biking through his motorcycle as well as his bicycle because he does not give a damm about what others say. Yes earlier I wanted to get a bicycle before and after getting my motorcylce. But I am in a hill station (Shillong) and have to share the same road with the trucks and heavy vehicles loaded with coal, charcoal, cements and others environmental polluting elements. Thinking of the dust and pollution my lungs have to bear, I decided not to get one till I shift my residence to a cleaner environment where the trucks are far away and the road are much more plain. Hoping someday, I would keep the spirit of biking alive through bicycling as well as motorcycling!

              Cheers!
              Happy Biking!
              .

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

One more thing, some of my friends who laughed at me when I started cycling, they also do cycling- but in GYM, and pay them 600 bucks for a month. If cycling is for low-class people (as they said), then why they are doing it in the gym. I think I cannot understand attitude of these kind of people.

What even more funny here is that we pay so much at gyms, to ride a cycle that goes nowhere..
