Why not, it is always a pleasure to learn from constructive criticism!

Also, one comparo that we forgot to include in the review (it was uploaded along with the rest of the pics but somehow skipped insertion amongst the plethora of pics), if there are factual errors in this then please blame Gupta ji for it

Torque for KTM 200 is 19Nm in the graph

Yes, I know that this review was done in daytime and hence not possible. I remember seeing a slightly dark (as per daytime standard) section in parking lot at the end of entrance road as you enter the factory. (If it was possible, else may be in future?)

Now, its difficult to put in words about the headlamp functionality but a picture of it working, alongside say one of the best that we got (P220 with projector), on a dark section would be helpful.
Good suggi. will try and summon the dark clouds next time! But seriously, will consider.

True...but, your answers are now getting closer to the reviews found in any typical Indian automotive mags, especially with the above comparisons; where's xBhp's uniqueness???

To me it looks like you're posting something for the sake of answering & most of us can make the above charts; enough has been spoken & criticized on this. Use all these critics for your next review. That's why I said...Move on!!!

        • Sunny, May I suggest you to procure VBox Datalogger for performance tests. I know it's a very expensive equipment but then again it will help largely in clearing out the doubts on the potential of the machine and also will save you from quoting other references which would obviously present a skewed perspective.

Nope, because figures seem sacrosanct to many. Often they are the seeds of controversy. Also I dont see it is legally possible to test top speeds of most bikes anywhere except a track, which also comes at a premium. Also there are enough magazines etc giving out figures, I dont want to, again, lose out on the xBhp 'style' as Argee pointed out.
            Probably someday...

            • Sunny, no matter however the review is presented, it will be criticized:

              >> Present just facts and figures and it will be criticized as a Bland/Boring review

              >> Write a passionate review and be labelled as the company PR

              >> Write a critical review and be prepared to face the wrath of guys who are in love with the product

However there is no doubt over the fact very few can match the way Sundeep Gajjar presents bikes in photographs..!!

Take my word, there is no need to "explain/justify" your review to each and everyone.. everyone has right to his/her opinion and so do you. By posting one of the very first reviews of the 200 Duke in India, you and xBhp has done more than enough.

                Hi Sunny & MG,

Nice review & beautiful photos as usual.
Loved the Digi console, I believe the the most advanced in this segment on Indian road. I would love to see a Duke 200 with an optional ABS system soon also an aftermarket free flow exhaust.
Since you have mentioned that it can be a capable tourer, looking at the clearance between the pillion seat & the rear wheel as well as swing arm, how easy it will be to mount soft luggage (saddlebags). I fear that the bags will get scrapped against the rear wheel. I can mount with the help of that plate near the foot rest or else will google a bit for more options. But what was your first impression.
Tailbags can be easily mounted (with or without some jugad).
I would like to know that since I hate to carry luggage on my shoulders when I'm travelling. Also does it comes with a center stand other than race stand? I will not like to park it on the side stand at the public places as well as on race stand in my building parking.
I reckon that RJAYS platinum sport panniers would be perfect for this.

You just slip them under the rear seat and lock the seta in, voila! There are no flanked exhausts to worried about either!

The luggage should fit and look good too! For more space just get a Heckentasche, - a tail bag which will go on the rear seat too. I actually toured 1000+ kms just with this bag on the back of the S1000RR in Europe. The one which you see on my back was for the laptop only.

For even more luggage space get a tank bag (its a non magnetic tank I think hence you need to get one with the coils).

The Rjays panniers will be available from Zulfi (Bachoo Motors) in Mumbai.

The RJAYS sport panniers look low in terms of space.. how much stuff do they hold?

                    • Not sure if this has already been answered - but

                      1. Is the tank made of metal? Or has a plastic covering on top (as seen in FZ)?

                      2. How comfortable is the pillion seat? Suitable for occasional trips with lady pillion riders?

                      • Any review worth its salt cannot do without critism. Sure, It can be boring, biased, etc.. However, without critism, is without life. Need I add, sound critism. After self justification, let be add my bit.

Looks like it has 0 flaws and you consider that as "a BIT biased". Now, thats being extremely modest . I too personally found the review biased, however held my views in check as this review was presented as a first impression, rather that an actual test review.

                        ...
ABS is good to have, but last I checked, mankind has been riding well without such aids and [B]I see no reason why there should be a drastic need all of a sudden and pivotal so as to decide a fate of such a good Product...
mankind has been driving without seat belts. This does not negate its importance. Same for helmets, riding gears etc.. I've personally witness couple of accidents. A majority of them due to tyres locking. ABS in these case could have prevented these mishaps. Besides I don't believe safety should be left at the mercy of rider's skills. But at the end of the day, it's about cost and affordability.

Lastly, I may not agree with The reviewer on couple of points. Though I appreciate his response to both queries and critics in good spirit. And that's what gives life to review or rather post-review.

                        • @Sunny @MG - Nice review and Great pics !

what do you think about it having the lower exhaust.

On a rainy season in Kerala or Mumbai roads. one would be in trouble I guess.
For that matter even a Leh trip, I guess its not a good choice !

There is a lot of difference between passive safety & active safety. With Discs both on front & rear it's already a safe bike. You can't compare it with seat belts.

                              1. Since when are specs "Crap"
                              2. I dont know what this is/does - Err? Missing the point of review by a MILE! I dont expect a review to be a owners manual, but if you have a pic, atleast go back and ask and write about it rather than saying that.
                              3. The "Big" console comment ends up looking as a sham, especially in the pic that follows! It could be a wide angle glitch (and I know for a fact that it isnt! the consoles tiny!)
                              4. Dont benchmark yourself especially when you are putting "Approx" speeds. How difficult is it to put a goPro in there and track it for real, and have a clip here as evidence!
                              5. The Compression of 11.3 is shared with the N650 too, and it runs on any fuel that you make it drink
                              6. Why refer to other "Reliable Publications!" are you implying you arent one?
                              7. More than 20 times comments - Then calculating backword means the price is <133000 and not 1.5L (Ok I am just being an arsehole here)
                              8. "25bhp, 135 kgs. I don’t think any bike can compare this in India. And definitely not the heavy and bulky ones like CBR 250, or the underpowered ones like " - Like what? The R15 who advertised heavily until last month? Why write such a point in the first place. 3 different machines, three different genres. Thats like comparing Eminems vocal abilities with Elton Johns!

PS: The last record of anything around motorcycling that I have ever hated is handsomely broken by the Panigale Promo rip off. Destroying scale models (and the monster) in a Motorcycling forum? Seriously? Wow thats a league of petrohead I dont want to turn into!

PPS: It seems like the intent was to make a fun-light review and then a lot of patch work happened, and in the final result the humour seems like Catherinze Zeta Jones in the movie Titanic. Precisely. Shes isnt there!
@Satyen Poojary - Hats off buddy! u've found urself a fan! Keep Posting! Keep Riding!

And Rocky, the same concern was raised when the N-650R was revealed, but answers of this are yet to be found. Maybe owners of KTM-200 & N-650R can respond.
My dear Sheel, I respect you as very experienced rider having immense actual hands on experience, however I urge you to take my perspective. ABS is definitely a nice thing to have, however it cannot replace development of actual riding skills.

In fact I strongly believe that the first bike in anyone's life should not have ABS, it is imperative to learn key riding and panic braking skills first.

That said, I have mentioned that the ABS is version under development and in all probability should be included in K200 V 2.0.

Thanks for your inputs though, I always value them.
