    Re: KTM RC 390 Reviewed!

    Beautiful review.

Now we just need R3 to launch here and it should be good choice field for people - RC 390, R3 and Ninja 300.

It will be sad that we might end up touring on these or mostly city commuting. Sadly, tracks aren't reachable to most of us.
I wish every state or atleast alternate state had a decent racetrack.

@M.G : Still waiting for 200's reviews or has it been side-lined because cc-s are more important now?

          +1

I think 200 is completely ignored everywhere

            Nice write-up for a 1st impression sunny.

When I rode the RC390, after riding a R15 for more than two years, I didn't like the vibration, which is of course my personal view. But the brakes and the tires are amazing and very much confidence inspiring. I loved that part of the handling dept.

Waiting for the complete review. MG: Sirjee, the review...we all are waiting for it

As for the R25, being an ardent Yamaha fan, I would say Yamaha should have launched it the same time Ninja 250 was launched here back in 2010/2011. Then it would have been the same sensation created as R15 did. But then again, Indian two-wheeler market might not be ready that time and wouldn't have spent 3+ L INR for a 250cc bike.

Frankly speaking, I would like the R25s to be CKDs, as I've seen what difference it can do. I've seen the build quality of engine, ignoring the performance part, R15 V1 was better than the R15 V2. V1 engine needs much lesser care than the V2. SO I would like to have R25s as CKDs.

awaiting the full report, especially when the mind is full of apprehensions pertaining to an upgrade - Z250, RC series, R25/R3 (hopefully); I might go berserk!

Its not a comfortable position to be. If I give 9/10 to P220 for pillion comfort and 7/10 for NS in that comparison RC will get a 3 or probably a 4

One can but how stable it will be is difficult to guess. Yet to try it

Viaterra ones fits perfectly. Everything else is big for it and will hinder in handling

Engines were imported for version 1 without LCV4 sticker, later manufacturing was started here.

                        Hello Good evening Guys

I am new into this biking world so far only owned Pulsar 150 so not completely aware of sports bikes . I am planning to buy RC 390 have few query's please help me .

Why the sound of KTM different from other sports bikes it sounds like a tempo

what exactly is ABS and how much it will be useful in city rides

Which forth coming bike in the same budget can compete with RC 390 .

The answer to the first question is. It doesn't. That sound is because its a short stroke single cylinder 400cc bike with high idling revs. Sounds way different past idle. Btw which tempo sounds like that? They sound like a bag of nuts being beaten with a bat repeatedly. Ktm sounds very different so don't give in to opinions of jealous people who can't afford these bikes.
The answer to your second query is. ABS saves lives by maintaining traction on uneven roads and preventing the bike from skidding while braking hard. For reference, the pulsars are notorious for wheel locking while braking which has caused numerous accidents. So make your choice.
The answer to your third query is. There is no forthcoming bike which has THAT much technology and power and safety at that impossible price. Bikes as good as this cost upwards of 3lakhs. It is currently India's most powerful engine yet. More powerful than an RD350.
So if you're still concerned about being seen on a two wheeled "tempo" Then I suggest you spend 1.8lakhs more and get the Kawasaki ninja 300. But don't buy a bike you're not happy with.

Sound : yeah I found the note close to an generator fuelled by kerosene (D390) but then its a missile so who cares .
Technically may be due to exhaust design(muffler, resonator, catcon) and high CR etc .

ABS is useful to prevent skidding and wheel lock which is useful inside city too i.e if a pedestrian crosses suddenly and you slam your brakes it still prevents the whell from locking & you can stop safely. without ABS you would have a minor fall .

Soon to be launched Pulsar 400,CBR 300,Mahindra mojo jojo ,Yamaha R25 .
since 2013 in some cases 2010 all the above bikes are soon to be launched

Since you are completely unaware of sports bike do test ride RC before getting one and especially do not sell the pulsar because you may still want it often .

Hope you realise we are talking about single cylinder bike here and that is the makor reason the bike doesnt sound like the other sports bikes (if I understood his question right) even if you change the exhaust to that of performance exhausts, the bike will never sound like a SBK period..
