    Hi Old Fox,

Amazing review. and awesome pics as usual. I have few queries from your post.

Couple of days ago i went to have a test ride of AS200. The dealer wasn't having AS200(not even on the stands) but had AS150, and i thought of just having a feel of AS's in 150 since i thought both were similar. But, on enquiring, the guy told that the seat height of AS150 is lesser than the AS200 making AS150 more suitable for shorter riders. I didnt believe him as i have seen sales person spew rubbish.

But, to my shock when i took ride of AS150, I myself felt the saddle height to be lesser than NS200. I am 5.6 in height and have taken ride on NS200 before. Felt the saddle height to be just right nor too comfy nor too tough to handle it. But, this AS150 was so comfy in terms of saddle height. Just to have a feel went and sat on RS 200 and AS150 back to back. I had the same feel of NS200 on the RS200 in terms of Saddle height, but so much lesser on the AS150.

On your reveiw, the data provided for saddle height of AS150 and AS200 is given as same 807mm and for RS200 as 810mm. I am not so sure of NS200 saddle height.

So, OF, can you please shed some light on this, Do you know the saddle height of NS200 and AS200.

Also an you share your experience on wind protection of these bikes wind screen.

    Thanks a lot.

    Cheers

Wondering how could Baja cut down the price compared to NS 200 considering the fact that this is a faired bike. Is it lacking any feature compared to NS 200?

Re: Bajaj Pulsar AS200 and AS150 Ridden and Reviewed

I have ridden AS150 a few times. Here are a few things from my side, (comparing it with P180 in a few points)

        1. Take it as a good way or bad way, engine is literally honda except it's powerful. You can't even hear it after 30-40 kph. It's silky smooth. But like all japs, it lacks the soul/character/mood swings.
        2. Low beam projector headlight has horizontal cut off which is very close. In first servicing adjust the projector to throw the light further. If I could, I would remove the limiter all together. Projector throw is powerful alright. BUT, upper beam is mind-blowingly amazing. I have not seen such brilliant upper beam in my life on a two wheeler. It eats headlight system of P220 for breakfast. You can easily do 100+ speed on highway at night. It lits the road till the horizon uniformly.
        3. Rider's seat is comfortable and posture is much relaxed. Pillions seat however is made up of stone. It's the worst ever I have seen. I bet those plastic cowls super bikes have are more comfortable. If you are getting this bike consider adding some foam on that seat.
        4. Exactly as mentioned in the review, the front brake lacks the bite.
        5. Fit and finish is much better than early generation pulsars. It's in the same league of 200ns/rs.
        6. The m'fcking stupidest thing about this bike. The gearing is stupidly short. For example, It does only 46 KPH on top gear at 4K RPM. (My P180 with same power does 56KPH at 4K RPM and I already feel my bike is short geared) So at 8K this bike will do only 92KPH and at around 110 KPH it'll red line. What's the use of all of that 17BHP and such a good fairing? I don't understand this Bajaj's love for short gearing. If I buy this bike, I'll put sprockets from AS200, assuming it's direct fit. There's too much power wasted due to such short gearing. Kid you not, in top gear, even with only 10% throttle, it'll accelerate while climbing a bridge carrying two fat adults.
        7. Blue backlights to switchgears look cheap and chinese. They should have stayed with white only. As with other new models engine kill switch kills the main ignition making headlamp, console to turn off too. No auto off indicators. Indicators aren't flexible, so you change it every time you had a fall. Side stand indicator is present but will be rarely noticed as it doesn't get it own dedicated LED.

This bike absolutely brilliant as mentioned in the review and now there is no point in buying P180. (AS200 too replaces P220). In red color the bike looks the most beautiful. I don't think before AS/RS, bajaj used red color for their bikes (they used maroon). The fate of this bike will be uncertain though because India's richest automobile company has no money to market it. It'll probably join NS200 in sales. In showrooms, I have seen most people who end up buying this bike, went their to buy a different bike originally.

Hello Old Fox sirjee, thanks for the review and the pictures.

As I am working on a custom bike project, I do like to know about the AS suspension compared to the Hero Impulse suspension in terms of travel, softness, etc.

          Regards.

Somehow, I like AS200 more than RS200. Looks of this bike grow on you. What will be the fate of 180 and 220 DTSI?

Good point about gearing. The AS200 has woken-up the sleeping biker inside me. But I will wait till Bajaj gives it ABS atleast.

I don't think bajaj will ever give it ABS. You should try rs. It looks very good in flesh and make no mistake it's a better touring bike than AS200.

How is rs better than AS200. What i think is the bigger front windshield on as200 should help keeping up good speeds. The seating also looks better than rs200 for pillion. Rs200 has very impractical rear seat for a tourer machine, it is a occassional track oriented machine, that is what it looks like to me.

Front wind shield on AS is way too narrow to be any effective at all. Someone on this thread has done side by side comparison between AS150 and Suzuki gixxer SF. He says fairing on SF does a better job.

I really don't know RS pillion seat but I can assure you that AS has one of the worst I have ever seen in my life. There is practically no foam present.

If this is the case, don't you think 220(compared to as200) will do a better job w.r.t touring. I understand that as200 has a better refined and revvable engine. But, isn't the current 2015- 220 not far behind. It has a better windshield which can deflect windblast effectively, and has very comfy soft rider and pillion seat which is friendly for both rider and pillion on long rides and it engine can do 100 kmph for long. I know 220 has longer gearing and as200 has 6 gears but shorter gearing which puts both on same scale. What do u feel bro. I am thinking as200 as a capable tourer with pillion and rider comfort. But it falls short in many places.

I was comparing as to rs. It's a different comparison with P220. There are a few short falls to AS but make no mistake it's a much much better motorcycle than P220. It's practically a generation ahead. There's no such thing as 2015 p220. Current p220 is 4-5 years old. If p220 can do 100 kph easily then as200 can do 120 easily. There are videos as200 touching 155kph. I have not seen a stock p220 touching 150 kph.

The thin pillion seat can be easily fixed by adding foam so not a real issue. Also with the gearing it can be made taller by changing the rear sprocket.

Also it doesn't matter as200 has shorter gearing because you can still tour at the maximum speeds Indian roads allow.

I was complaining about shorter gearing on As150 which has 5th(top) gear shorter than my p180's 4th gear.

From my point of view as200 makes p220 obsolete. There's no point in buying p220 now.

Ps: From riders point of view as200 is more comfortable than p220. Also handles a ton better.

Nope. Its not a better touring machine than AS.I tried both and found AS to be better for touring.

Cant agree with Lockheart more on this.

I had a pulsar 180 UG4 which clocked 25k kM.had to sell it because it was getting terrible day by day.So many issues i had to sell it.

Then i took AS200(with MRF Red). The engine is so much different u just cant compare them.Make no mistake by just seeing CC.its a different Genre alltogether.

                            My advice,No 220.Its obsolute.No point.Old engine,dual shocks...Just doens tfit in todays day.
Go for 200,its an awesome bike.Trust me

The thin pillion seat can be easily fixed by adding foam so not a real issue. Also with the gearing it can be made taller by changing the rear sprocket.

Also it doesn't matter as200 has shorter gearing because you can still tour at the maximum speeds Indian roads allow.

I was complaining about shorter gearing on As150 which has 5th(top) gear shorter than my p180's 4th gear.

From my point of view as200 makes p220 obsolete. There's no point in buying p220 now.

Ps: From riders point of view as200 is more comfortable than p220. Also handles a ton better.

Cheers bro. Ya, you are right. As200 is a better motorcycle. Few shortfalls can be overcome with small tweeks here and there. But, how can as200 touch a top speed of 155. According to its gearing and official top speed it can be maximum of around 135-140kmph. May be it was having speedo error or was a retuned one.

Yes. Even after 5 years it's 100% fine. No issues.

I haven't ridden AS200. I take your word for it then.
