Nano review - anybody ??
guys i want your frank review about it, as i am planning to buy a nano lx 2012 model. i want to buy a nano because i have a budget of only 2 lakhs as of now. i dont want any other 2nd hand car. i did tried maruti true value but their prices are too high and in only 2 lakhs u can get only a M800. i don't want to buy from any other 2nd hand dealer because reliability of car is a big concern for me. i don't want to invest in maintenance afterwards. don't be shocked to read further- the purpose of nano is to do daily to and fro from pune to aamby valley city distance = 80 kms so it has to do a total of 160 kms daily. out of this 80 kms - 55 km is highway and 25 km is ghats (hill climbing) kind of. i am inclined towards nano because a new nano will be more reliable than a second hand car and will consume less petrol than a second hand car. i will use it this way for 6 months and then afterwards i will use it only within city. after using it for 2 years i may sell it off for 1 lakh or so. my concern is if we drive at moderate speeds like 80kmph on highway, is it ok for nano, will highway riding have any adverse impact on small nano engine and other parts.how is the hill climbing ability of nano, coz i have read some adverse comments about its hill climbing abilities with 4 people onboard, ofcouse i will be driving it alone. after 2 years will a nano be able to fetch 1 lakh as resale value?

I'm using a nano since 6 months and never did I feel it's under powered. It has ample amount of power to eat ghats with 2 people on board, But with 4 people on board it might be a lil problematic (steep hairpins). I took it on a long drive of 290 kms and I had no issues at all. Was maintaining 80 kmph through out as the fuel cut of was at 105kmph. (was keepng the 20kmph as buffer in case I overtake). I am not really sure about the resale value after 2 years as it's a petrol and people do not have a good impression on nano. (I'm sure they never test drove a nano. It's an amazing car. Trust me on that).Originally posted by princesirohi View Postguys i want your frank review about it, as i am planning to buy a nano lx 2012 model. i want to buy a nano because i have a budget of only 2 lakhs as of now. i dont want any other 2nd hand car. i did tried maruti true value but their prices are too high and in only 2 lakhs u can get only a M800. i don't want to buy from any other 2nd hand dealer because reliability of car is a big concern for me. i don't want to invest in maintenance afterwards. don't be shocked to read further- the purpose of nano is to do daily to and fro from pune to aamby valley city distance = 80 kms so it has to do a total of 160 kms daily. out of this 80 kms - 55 km is highway and 25 km is ghats (hill climbing) kind of. i am inclined towards nano because a new nano will be more reliable than a second hand car and will consume less petrol than a second hand car. i will use it this way for 6 months and then afterwards i will use it only within city. after using it for 2 years i may sell it off for 1 lakh or so. my concern is if we drive at moderate speeds like 80kmph on highway, is it ok for nano, will highway riding have any adverse impact on small nano engine and other parts.how is the hill climbing ability of nano, coz i have read some adverse comments about its hill climbing abilities with 4 people onboard, ofcouse i will be driving it alone. after 2 years will a nano be able to fetch 1 lakh as resale value?M800 - 2001 - 5787.Nano 2011 - 5086.Figo 2011 - 518.P220 - 2010 - 5995.CBR 250R - 2011 - 250.sigpic

Let me share my experience. In about 16 months of owning my car ( Nano LX ), i completed 25,000 kms 1 day before the 16th month of ownership. Current meter reading is at 26,700 kms! My average runing works out to 50 kms a day ( holidays, leaves, not driving the car days included ).Originally posted by princesirohi View Postguys i want your frank review about it, as i am planning to buy a nano lx 2012 model. i want to buy a nano because i have a budget of only 2 lakhs as of now.

The car has been an absolute surprise and great performer. I just checked my last mileage and it was 21.3 kmpl! That too in the city!! Highways if you do around 60-70-80 it will return more than 22-23 kmpl easy.
Some pros that the new Nano has over the old ones -
Updated 2012 Tata Nano Launched!!
Go thru both pages. They have done some vast improvements over the old model, making it even more refined and peppy to drive. Moreover being a rear wheel drive model, you wont feel the loss in power. And the best bit is the low end grunt of the engine. I have generally observed that the car pulls better in 3rd gear at 30-50 kmph, rather than pulling it in 2nd and keeping the engine on the limit.
if any other query with regards to the car, do lemme know.

I have a year old Nano LX. I am absolutely happy that I made this decision to buy the Nano.Originally posted by princesirohi View Posthow is the car's handling, braking and stability on highway & how good it is at climbing ghats.??
Easy to drive, easy to find parking for, brilliant in the city. I had taken my Nano to Lavasa and she performs really well; climbs the ghats with ease (even with four people and the AC running overtime).
Just last week, I drove down from Pune to Mumbai on the expressway and returned on the same day; a distance of almost 350 KM. Cruised comfortably between 80-90 KMPH. Fuel Efficiency returned was 23.7 KM/Lit. Amazing considering the fuel that we wasted at traffic lights at Mumbai, crawled in the first gear for almost 45 minutes, AC running most of the time and not to mention the traffic which did not allow us to shift beyond the 3rd gear.
Lights are bright enough to put a few bigger cars to shame.
The brakes are good on feel and power but since it has drums all over, the pedal travel leaves something to be desired. However, this is a very small aspect that can be ignored.
Final Verdict: Go ahead and experience the Nano..you will be pleasantly surprised.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Have a nano 2012 lx model, champagne gold color. Its a fun car to drive in city and on highways, done run of around 300+ kms with my family and it was comfortable. The car dint gave up on ghats and in overtaking, at times i was about to hit the triple digits but than i had to control as she is still new and her first service is due.
A nice car to own, enjoying the ride.
Getting mileage of around 22-24 both in city and highway.

I dont hate cars neither do i want to start a controversy here...but here is a pic just for fun !
The way a Biker looks at cars !
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

& Add me to the list of soon to be a owner of nanoOriginally posted by jd666 View PostTBH i am very impressed to see the number of Nano owners here!!! Great going guys!!
. But sometimes these just make me confused regarding the hill climbing capacity of nano
.
Does the nano have an aircooled engine or liquid cooled one?? Coz i read in the FAQ's of tata nano that the rear air scoops allow cool air to enter and cool the engine.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

nano have a liquid cooled engine, but even that requires air to cool the radiator.

i am confused between Nano 2012 LX and Alto K10 Vxi. Nano will save money in EMI and fuel consumption, but i am doubtful about its hill climbing ability and highway manners. also people look down on you. Alto on the other hand will be a proper car in view of friends and relatives, alto can be taken anywhere hill/highway, but is bit costly and will give less mileage. but it has cramped interiors, i am 6 feet person with 95 kgs weight. alto will also give you a very good resale value, nano will not give you anything in resale.
confused..
