There were no Roadkings in 1980. Only the Classic.
It could be a classic converted to a RK.

I have a Pulsar 180 Classic and I call it the "'Ol Tiger", it was inspired by the way my dad used to say about things which never dies no matter what you do to it. He would say it in Malayalam as 'Pooliya pooli'. (Any keralites might know what it means ). Despite of 78000 kms under my supervision, the bike never threw in any problem on long trips. So that's why I call it my Tiger.

Hi Joel. Just get the same confirmed again. There are many of us who perhaps were not even born then and so most of our information is more hear say rather than first hand information.

did Yezdi manifacture Roadkings in 1980?
yezdi launched the Roadking begining of 1980. Actually some of us may even have the 1978/79 Roadking. This was a CB Point Ignition system Bike with a double chain drive for the clutch assembly. The Engine dynamics were different from the yezdi Model B and the Classic and it was a higher BHP model. 16 BHP to be precise.

The Roadkings saw a new lease of life when in 1989 they got their first CDI ignition system and somewhat minor engine design changes, namely the clutch chain assembly again.

The Older roadking was not available in India in Indian Rupees but was an Export model and surplus were siphoned off in India against payment in US Dollars, hence they were called Dollar Roadkings also.

Exact dates slightly difficult to get because at that time often bikes were launcghed in different reginos at different times and some bikes never reached the corners of the country in time.

refer to the website www.yezdi.com for more details.

PM me for more details on these twin stroke beauties. Those who really know about these bikes will perhaps recognise me by my name.

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

I call my bike as "Bechari" or "Mile Muncher" as I have done a lot of km in very less time and it has faced extreme riding conditions.
