Got to see 'Max Payne' this evening at a PVR. I cannot express how disappointed I am with this movie! I had some expectation from Max Payne, but it disappointed me and how. It might just be an okay movie if one sees it as an action movie, but compared to the huge franchise that Max Payne is, it's a total let down.
Moreover, what's shocking is there is absolute no use (or even mention) of 'bullet-time' save for ONE bloody scene (for just a few seconds, no less!). One of the biggest attraction of the game was it's wonderfully executed 'bullet-time' effect but the movie just doesn't make use of any of it! I kept expecting it, but the movie just ended without even a hint that there is anything like bullet time at all! How pathetic, really.
Overall, I would really give it about 1 and a half stars out of 5 at the max. Max Payne overall, is a 'pain'. Really!:)

Doesn't really matter if one remembers the game or not. The moment the movie starts, the game would flash right infront of your eyes; and then the disappointment starts! Utter failure this, I wouldn't even want to remember that there was a movie after such a hit franchise as 'Max Payne'.Originally posted by onlinesatish View Post+1 aryan. Good thing i dont remember the Game soo much to be even more dissapionted. Been 3 yrs since i played it

P.S Is there a blu-ray version of 'Wall-E' available anywhere?
Also, I had a small doubt. Which player to be used for these downloaded blu-ray ripped files?? Any specfic player, because blu-ray players are needed to play blu-ray discs, hence, this lame question.

Aryan, the Blu-Ray rip is .mpv or .m4v format IIRC. Will confirm the same once I reach home tonight. I use Quicktime 7 PRO to view it. I have "Batman Begins" in the same format. AWESOME is the only word to describe it. Too bad, I have a pathetic viewsonic 17" TFT for my PC and a Sony 29" CRT at home. Cant enjoy it to the fullest!!!Originally posted by Aryan View Post@Apar: How is the quality of the downloaded Blu-ray video file? The Blu-ray version of Wall-E sure is available online. But for me the 1.5GB AVI's suffice. U can use PowerDVD to watch the 50 GB blu-ray movies. My friend has a version with support for the same IIRC.
EDIT : The Blu-ray rip is of mp4 file format.Last edited by Aparajith; 12-03-2008, 12:00 AM.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

@Apar: Thanks for that information. Yes, the CRT would suck as far as enjoying the gamut of experience of a blu-ray movie is concerned, but nevertheless a blu-ray movie IS surely something that I would LOVE to have a look at..
P.S:
Time to search for a blu-ray version of 'Wall-E'..

I just saw WALL-E last month. Loved the movie.....A LOT. Was quite a sentimental movie. Was just amazed at how the guys at PIXAR cud bring emotion and love within two robots. That too, one waste collection unit that looks like junk and another very modern-state of the art stuff. Just awesome!!! PIXAR sure deserves more than a pat on the back for that.
@Aryan : If u do download the full uncompressed Blu-ray version of Dark Knight, share ur experiences here with a few screenshots if possible.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

Dark Knight can wait; Wall-E it will be the one who will find space on my HDD FIRST and FOREMOST!Originally posted by Aparajith View Post@Aryan : If u do download the full uncompressed Blu-ray version of Dark Knight, share ur experiences here with a few screenshots if possible.
Yes, so true. I also totally echo your emotions regarding that movie (Wall-E). I mean it is a very touching and emotional movie. It is really astonishing to even think how the geniuses at Pixar bought so much emotions out on the screen in a movie that doesn't even have a line of dialogue for a good chunk of the first half! Lovely!:)
