The hinge at the bottom of the Yi waterproof case is same as the one on GoPro's case, so it gets even easier.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostMounts are generally same for all cams. The waterproof case of all cams are different.

Get Yi 4K eyes closed. For 16k you will be getting a product which performs better than the 40k Hero4 Black, plus touch screen, great battery and better wifi band (very less lag while using live view on phone).Originally posted by Vishal_G View PostKausaryasub, i will be getting from Philippines at around 16k in for the camera. Though if anything goes bad, you will have to try and fix it on your own. Make sure the person who buys this for you @Phillipines does proper testing specially the battery life.
Mine might arrive by the end of next month at my home, but I won't be able to go home before Jan
Will try to ship it, but first of all I need to buy a bike

Re: Action Cameras for Bikers
Hello friends, suggest me a good action camera within a budget of around ₹13000 which should have a good battery life too!
I have shortlisted SJCam Sj5000x elite and SjCam M20 and SjCam Sj6 Legend!
Out of these which one is the best and worth the price?
Also I've to mount it on the chin of the hemlet.. But my helmet has only a small place left! So how can I mount it? Any ideas would be better. 🙂

You can mount on the chin using M-seal.
Battery life is about 60-90 mins of recording.---

Isn't it permanent stick if we stick it using M-seal?Originally posted by santosh.k View PostWould recommend the SJCam 5000x elite.

And we can record only for 60-90 mins?
The only reason I buy the action cam is to record while I go for long rides..!! So a bigger battery life would be better! I would mostly record in 720pixels only!

On the SJCam the battery life permits only 60-90 mins. But you can always buy spare batteries. They cost about 500 a piece.
If you want good battery life then do check out the iON action cams. But won't be able to mount that on the chin.
Would recommend to shoot in 1080p and edit in 720p, so you'll have space to stretch the frame if needed.---

Suggestions required in buying an Action Camera from Aliexpress.
Hi All
I am thinking on buying an Action Camera from Aliexpress. After extensive research, I finalised on Gitup Git2 which falls within my budget of Rs.8000 and the ability to connect an external mic out of the box without any modifications. But now I am worried about the warranty. I do not see any service centre in India for Gitup. I have other options like SJCAM S4000+ as well under the same budget but without an external mic. And I did not find any service centres for SJCAM when I searched on Google.
1. Is there any one who has bought a camera from Aliexpress or BangGood etc. ?
2. How does the warranty work ?
3. Is it a good decision to buy from Aliexpress ?
Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Re: Action Cameras for Bikers
For absolute best footage out of an Action cam, I will recommend Sony Action Cams.Originally posted by Hackdrag View PostTo Go or not to Go-Pro
Background
Personally interested I’m photography like biking ,touring…..
I normally carry my DSLR kits during my rides.
[Nikkon D5100,18-105,50mm1.8]
I also use a Sony P&S, and my latest gear is Nokia Pureview 808.
I wanted some small rugged gear to capture some moments with my bike.
I normally have to remove my gloves take the DSLR out of the bag when I’m on my bike.
So I came across Go-Pro. The camera most of the Xbhpins uses.
It really delivered a lot of moments in many travelogues.
Is this the only solutions?
The Rugged Cameras
Now there are some good rugged cameras out there under INR 17K!!
Rugged means, Waterproof+ Shock Proof+ 4-6 Feet fall proof.
These all comes with Built in GPS, Full HD video Recording.
Yes, they take good pictures with HDR too
So I short listed some of them,
- Panasonic Lumix TS20
- Nikon Coolpix AW100
- Olympus Tough TG-810
All the above are great cameras they deliver a good battery life also. But you can use the other camera as regular camera in everyday life. It a normal point and shoot camera after all. This is one flexibility makes Go Pro looks like an Alien in the crowd.
But when we consider a battery life, The Go pro is a winner. It is much more power optimized and lack of Big LCD screen bumps up the battery Life.
How do I fix them to my bike or Helmet?
This big question makes GoPro a winner again. It has all the fancy mounts which can practically strict to anywhere.
Can I get these mounts?
Yes, there are some DIY’s about the camera and mobile mounts in Xbhp.
Or there are many off the shelf solution too.

So if you want to get something similar to Go Pro this is your answer. We Indians consider VFM before buying anything and this is a VFM solution.
Now I’m thinking I should put my Nokia 808 in waterproof rugged cover with a tripod mount. So, I can use it for my Motograpy. It has excellent video performances .
Drive Safe!! Because you’ll never know how you end up if you use a lot creativity in taking Picture while driving!!
Sony FDR X3000 comes with optically stabilised 4k. GoPro will have catch up to do before matching this result.

1. Li-Po batteries are probably the battery technology available today with highest charge density. A much larger battery like DSLR will make Action cams less usable and heavy. I carry 5 Batteries. Each will give ~2 Hrs. I have a battery charger that can connect to our 12 V socket. So I can charge as I ride. Charging straight to cam is not a viable idea in my opinion. Practically, we will have to just take small clips and compile rather than recording long 10 Hr clip (for creative production)Originally posted by aargee View PostThere're 100's of reason to buy GoPro...but here're some points to keep in mind before considering them...
1. The battery life is quite a disaster; I would ride for over 15 hours a day, but, even if I didn't expect a 24 hours life, I'd expect something like a decent 10 hours
2. Atleast the additional batteries should be affordable & not like $20 a piece that lasts for another 2 hours
3. Otherwise, there's no point to have a backup capacity of 9 hours on a 32G card for which I should be using 3-4 batteries atleast
4. One way to overcome is to use USB cable & charge the camera while on the move, but again, that will require a slight alteration to motorcycle's electricals
5. The buttons on the camera are not so convenient; they require to press hard; yes it's good in a way than feather light touch, but then, that also involves in slight disorientation of the camera's position
Having said that, I'm not against GoPro, but, feel they need to work on improvising things a little more towards practicality
2. Batteries (off brands) are generally cheap. I got some 3 for 3K or something with a charger.
3. If we are recording at 50/100 Mbps, we will fill cards pretty fast. Need to carry some backup solution. Now a days on shorter rides <10 days, I can live with 2X64GB + 2 X 32 GB cards easily.
4.It just needs a standard 12 V socket taken from battery.
Covered In this Video briefly:
5. I hold the camera and press in such situations, if needed.
Edit: Looks like I it was an old post, but I think the thread is still relevant.Last edited by kochumvk; 03-10-2017, 05:59 PM.
