Contact Lenses and Specs
Hello people, i want a review of those who use Toric contact Lenses,My doctor seriously advised against it but finally gave in to my insistence as i am having problems with wearing regular frames(skin irritation), also wearing specs inside helmets is also another headache,Since i have Cylindrical power, regular lenses does not suit me, he tried me with a trial spherical lenses of higher power, but that didn't worked well.Toric lenses which might be suitable for me had to be ordered and they do not keep trial lenses of the same, so its a risk of putting 3000+ rupees in to waste bin, so please please help me with your input regarding Contacts for Astigmatism and also about contacts in general.Invitation link to join Zurker Beta, "A social network which you can own"

Off Topic Thread ApprovedAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Contact Lenses and Specs
Contact lens though replaces the specs especially those who uses thick lenses has its own disadvantages.
They are prone to infection if not taken care of properly. Always clean your hands before wearing them.
They are not so good in dusty conditions. This comes true when you ride a bike. So if you are a biker then its best to avoid contact and switch to specs as it can prevent dust from entering your eyes.
These are just a few of my thoughts. You can seek an expert opinion in this matter.

I have been using toric lenses for last 3 years and yes I tour a lot with them(last one lasted for 6 days). With convenience comes lots of responsibilities. Cleanliness, regular re-wetting drops, never exceed the recommended hours of wear and dispose them when they are done. After trying a lot of brands in the market, I settled for Vision Express toric lenses(UK made) and for 3 pairs(one pair per month) I pay 1100 Rs.Originally posted by Rashid View PostHello people, i want a review of those who use Toric contact Lenses,My doctor seriously advised against it but finally gave in to my insistence as i am having problems with wearing regular frames(skin irritation), also wearing specs inside helmets is also another headache,Since i have Cylindrical power, regular lenses does not suit me, he tried me with a trial spherical lenses of higher power, but that didn't worked well.Toric lenses which might be suitable for me had to be ordered and they do not keep trial lenses of the same, so its a risk of putting 3000+ rupees in to waste bin, so please please help me with your input regarding Contacts for Astigmatism and also about contacts in general.
My suggestion would be to start with lenses on trial basis and check your comfort level in short trips. Religiously carry your specs so that you can switch back to specs, just in case lenses become uncomfortable. In the end what matter is your comfort. Convenience can always take a back seat.

I used to wear contact lenses, for a total of 19 years and didn't even have any specs for a back up, I started out with hard lenses back in '84 after suffering those for 6 years, I was introduced to gas permeable which improved comfort by a good margin, then Toric I think at around '94 or so became available. Toric's were a considerable improvement, I used to wear them for up to 20 hrs a day, mostly between 15-17 hrs, then in 2003 I switched back to specs due to working unsociable hours in a studio my eyes suffered a lot of discomfort, however throughout all my years of usage I never had a single eye infection. Just make sure you clean/sterilize them properly, carry back up glasses some cleaning solution and eye drops just in case. Dust and tiredness are your biggest enemies whilst wearing contacts, though soft contacts (including toric) are less troublesome. I had played 3 full seasons football wearing torics without issue.
I am thinking of switching back to contacts, have been quoted 2400 in Bombay and 2500 in Goa, no vision express here.Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !
