  • Anyone done Lasik here?

I am planning to get Lasik - spectacles removal operation in layman's term - this month. Still planning which hospital to go (either NIO in pune or Wavikar's in Thane).

The reason I am getting Lasik done is I am thoroughly sick of spects. Even though I look much 'acceptable ' in spects, the dependence is killing me. The facts that I can't fight with my friends, can't ride in light monsoon, can't do many 'life' things because of the fear of breaking the glasses, are hitting too hard lately.

Has anyone here done a Lasik surgery? I request your feedback/comment on this topic.

      .
I have not done it but have observed a couple..lol
seriously get it done if you are above 23-25 years of age an you vision has not changed in the last 2 years, get it done a good place and dont go by the cost instead go by other patients experience..if done correctly it will give u life long relief..atleast until ur late 40s..
but follow the post op advice correctly to the letter..

my doctor told me ( as far as i know he is one of the most honest docs i met) that only come for lasik if u believe that number cannot be completely removed, it can be reduced to great extent, he never wanted to give me false hopes.

I am also planing the same but presently i prefer contact lenses.

My brother has got this done and trust me hes a much relieved man now. he had quite high power and now he doesnt need glasses at all. Go to a reputed doc as everyone cannot undergo a lasik. Your corneal thickness should be at a minimal range for the Lasik, so get all the pre tests done.

As far as i know there are better techniques available now (advanced than lasik) please enquire

Dude, do you really need to know this? I am almost fainted reading your question.

Lasik is the name of the procedure where the cornea of the eye is made to shrink with laser rays to correct the defect in eye vision.

                  UPDATE:

I got PRK done on my eyes on 23 Jan 09, from NIO, Pune. PRK is a previous form of Lasik. In Lasik, cornea is cut, whereas in PRK, only surface treatements are done. PRK has a slightly longer recovery period than Lasik, but the long term results are same, that's why I opted for slow recovery process!

My left eye was -4.25, and right was -4.5, age 25 male. It costed me 25,000Rs, and a week's holiday from office. Now my vision is almost fully recovered, with more recovery expected further! Already 20/20 on charts. Any questions/comments are welcome.

^^^ ya, one week does seem costly, This is what I did:

You need to take a half day leave for prior tests. I did it on Thursday On Friday took half day leave for actual procedure. Sat-Sun off, monday 26 Jan holiday. Took 2 more days leave, n went to work on Thursday half day. So total 3.5 days leave. You can plan accordingly It is worth it.

Congrats Animeher!! Good to get back to the normal vision. Me also thinking of this procedure in the near future. What the PRK stands for?

Fighting is also one of my desires.. I had to refrain from involvement in numerous battles due to glasses, as I had already broken numerous earlier..

Ah.. thanks for letting us know about this.. I always wondered why is Bill Gates such a miser/ lazy person to not get some treatment like this

I think it's high time to get a decent job to avail such treatment possibilities..

BTW, has your eye specialist asked you any precautions or, have told of any side-effects??
