i mean is that really beneficial? is it necessary every operation would be a success? How long would it last and any side effects in long term?

since my number is low and i can see well without specs, i never bothered about lasik.

BTW i look much better in specs
If you can see fine without glasses, don't bother with any surgery. I had 3.5-4 number in my eyes, couldn't even tell time on the wall clock without glasses! In your case, you can manage fine I guess.

BTW even I looked much better in specs than without, and many people including my wife said I looked horrible without them. However, after about 2 years, now the same specs look so out of place on me, and the spectacles looks are much better. It is a matter of perception. Additionally, if you are wearing glasses continuously, the eyes will be appearing small, and hence specs-less looks are daunting in beginning. But after a while, eyes return to their normal shape, and the looks improve.

@animeher, have you been on a long night ride after recovering from the surgery?? Asking since many people complain about having slightly blur/foggy vision during night riding, due to headlights of incoming vehicles etc.

I have been through countless long night rides after the surgery. I don't remember how a perfect vision looked like, as I was wearing glasses for more than 15 years continuously. But if you are asking about the blur/scattering of light like on scratched glass, the answer is not. I make it a point not to look at the incoming light, so can't really tell whether it is the case or not, but certainly never felt that I was better off in glasses!

Even I wear spectacles with moderately high power. I'm going to see an eye-specialist sometime this week for a regular eye check-up. If the power remains unchanged from last check-up, I think I will go for a surgical procedure to correct the myopia. In no hurry though.
Thanks animeher & other members for all your help. I will read up on the links shared by you guys, & decide upon the procedure I would prefer.

k, will enquire abt PRK. The reason I have put off this surgery is coz I am very apprehensive about changing any thing permanently. Although the risk is little to none, I sometimes feel like "if it aint broke, dont fix it", other times I just hate to have to remove my specs before/after wearing a fullface. Btw my number is around -4.5(both eyes)

i was discussing this with my family and one of my relative told me that eyesight can be normal if one drinks plenty of carrot juice.

Well i know carrot contains carotene, vitamin A......but will it really reduce number?

BTW i am drinking carrot juice right now n will drink regularly till season last
