Hey Silver, what did you get in the end?

I got myself a D60 in March and am totally in love with it. The deal was pretty ok.

      For Rs.36k I got,

      1. D60 Body + Nikon neck Strap
      2. 18-55VR kit lens
      3. Sigma 70-300 non APO lens
      4. Plain filters + Hoods for lenses
      5. Camera bag that holds body + 18-55 + 70-300(and now even a Nikon 50mm 1.8D which I picked up recently)

Buying a Canon or Nikon or any other brand is like buying into a System. If you pick a Nikon, you become a part of the Nikon System. No DSLR is bad. They are all amazing piece of electronics. The difference lies in the photographer's hands, imagination, skill and love for Photography. Its very important for the Camera to be an extension of the photographer's hand.

I would suggest, for a start, get a simple equipment, because you will not have much idea, as to what your taste really is, get used to the camera and then slowly build on it.

Do let us know what you picked. All the Best.
