The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Congratulations man! Absolutely stunning picture - I bet the guys in Japan must be amazed to see a R15 at an altitude of 15,000+ feet!
Have fun in Japan! Take a lot of pictures...
It is an incredible place - if you can, ask them whether you can break your journey for a couple of days in Tokyo (on way or return to the Shizuoka Yamaha factory), it is worth it even if you have to spend a bit of your own money. If you happen to stop in Tokyo, make a visit to the Japanese 'Karol Bagh' near the Ueno station - tons of accessories/gear to spruce up your R15 and second hand bike prices which will leave you speechless!
Best wishes and safe travels!
And some Japanese lessons to get you started:

Konnichi-wa: Hello (only during day/afternoon)
Konbanwa: Good evening
Ohayo-gozaimasu: Good morning
Arigato-gozaimasu: Thank you
Doitashimashite: You're welcome
Jikan: time
Mizu: WaterLast edited by bluevolt; 10-13-2009, 10:27 PM.

Yes, I can speak Japanese fluently though reading/writing is a bit of an issue due to lack of practice. I have lived there for many years since my mother is a native Japanese and I go there every year for a few weeks or so. Wish I could also go to Japan and show our brother biker boy around Tokyo, but I won't be able to take leave at allOriginally posted by Psycho_McCrazy View Post

All this talk is inspiring me to go on a motorcycle road trip to Japan - the Indian license and international driving permit is legally recognised there since India is part of the 1949 Geneva traffic rule ratification countries. It is easy to rent a maxi-scooter or a CB400/750 and explore in and around Tokyo! It burns a hole in your pocket though - rentals can be around 11,000 yen a day, plus fuel. The traffic side is also the same as India (RHD), so there is less of a learning curve, though the rules and very strict and the speed limit sucks, even on highways.
Hey Sunny, how about the "Great Japan Roadtrip (GJR)" the next time? GJR has a nice ring to it
I am sure you will get a lot of support from the Japanese bigwigs here!

@bluevolt: nice.... and that means you would be way better than me at the language then....
You can be a good teacher to our Japanese Tourist
though as far as renting a ride in tokyo is concerned, the traffic regulations, and the strictness would make it a no-no.Torque nut in the land of horsepower worshippers.

Sure, would be more than happy to give our biker boy some language pointers so that he can floor the Japanese girls thereOriginally posted by Psycho_McCrazy View Post@bluevolt: nice.... and that means you would be way better than me at the language then....

India is held in high esteem by most Japanese so he already has the bonus advantage.
Riding in Japan is no big deal at all...just know the speed limits, a few unwritten traffic rules/etiquettes/right of way and know where NOT to park your bike!
Bikerboy, take plenty of pictures!
