  • Bikers for a Social Cause this Winter/Christmas Season.

    Mission Accomplished!

You can go to Page 4 for Details and Photos (click here)
    Thankyou!

My Friends and Brothers in Wheels, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss our humble effort for the orphans or the old age homes during this Winter Season and Christmas Season.

The plan actually came to mind last year on the Christmas Day when Brandon with his girlfriend and me with my girl were riding in the streets of Shillong. We were only 4 of us then wearing a Santa's Mask and distributing sweets to Children who were on our path. It was then that we thought we shall make this Celebration in a better manner with more bikers celebrating through the spirit of biking. And now we know we can make it happen with the help of the bikers around Meghalaya and with the support from the bikers of India especially the xBhp family.

So yesterday about 20 registered and non-registered members of xBhp, Meghalaya Zone have come together to discussed on doing something different for the benefit of those in need this Winter Season. Our view is that we all have funds to spent for our personal leisure like petrol for biking, cigarettes, snacks and even drinks and parties. As such we are humbly making a small effort of helping the poor orphanage home or the Old Age Homes by donating items like Rice, Dal, Clothing (like one winter shawl, one pair of socks and one pair of hand gloves) and other such items which can benefit them. You all might know that the Aged and the orphanages are left with no one but the Sisters or Caretakers who voluntarily look after them with the help and support of few section of the people who are Samaritans or the Philanthropist. So I would like to appeal to my Biker Brothers to lend a helping hand towards this small yet humanitarian effort for the needy.

If you would like to contribute to this cause you can do this by way of sending items like:
    1. Packets/box of stationery items like Pen, Pencil, Eraser, Ruler, Sketchpens or colour pencils etc. for the orphans.
    2. Old clothes but those which they can wear.
    3. Clothing like Winter Shawls, winter hand gloves, socks, mufflers to wear around the neck and other clothing.
    4. Or by way of sending money of any amount through Money Order. This can be used to purchase the required Items for donation.
    5. Or perhaps, you can send Christmas Cards and New Year Cards to the Address I shall provide later in this thread.

As a group, we (Meghalaya xBhpians) have decided to contribute Rs.200/- as the minimum amount from each member and also clothing if available. Those who are working and have more capacity are always welcome to donate more. Whatever funds collected will be for the donation ONLY.

In addition, we are planning to practice few songs to sing during our visit on the 24th. This, we believe will raise their spirit, feel loved and inspire them, if not the whole life but at least during this Christmas and Winter Season. We also believe that this will be one of our best way of Celebrating the Season and raise our Biking Spirit, rather than the usual normal way.

So if you feel like Donating or contributing something you are always welcome to do so. Your contribution (clothes, cards, money order, etc ) should reach latest by 22nd of December so that we can get ourselves organised in a proper manner.

Kindly sent your contribution to the following address:

    Mr. Michael Conrad Gurung
    St. Peter's School,
    Dhankheti, Shillong-793003,
    East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.

    Safe Biking
    And Happy Season to all!

Good initiative there, Devilboy. Nice to see Shillong xBhp members taking the name of xBhp forward by investing in such a good cause.

P.S: Seeing that address of Conrad (Dhankheti) brought back old, fond memories.

              Wonderful idea

DevilBoy: Your name is Devil but actually your thoughts are of a saint. Great Initiative, must say.

These type of events should be replicated in all the cities. We should organise small events which would address the social cause to once a while. Planting of saplings, distributions of foods & other stuffs to the needy, educating other motorists about road sense & safety.... we can easily do it. And am sure it will bring accolades to XBHP community

Thankyou Guys for your support and appreciation.
We are looking forward for more support and contribution from the xbhp community.

@rx100: Well "Devilboy" is just a coverup of my sainthood. I believe that there is a saint in every individual and in every Biker. Sure, we can organise such events in the future. We can always donate old clothes or even newer once to Charity Houses if members are will to do so. If this one becomes a success, we shall frequently donate during different Religious Festivals. Organising such events will slowly create a sense of responsibility among the youger bikers who requires a little nurturing and education and at the same time uniting bikers through the spirit of biking related activities.

@Conrad: I think we should have a meeting 2day evening to collect the contribution from the members and to start practicing songs. Half an hour for discussion and for song practice should be more than enough. I will be meeting you in the evening to had over the name list of all the members for accounting. I will be sending messages to all the members regarding the meeting after I am done with my office work. See you later buddy.

okey 2day we meet. I will let know of the venue through sms. We will need a place where there is no public disturbances, parking space and off course some lights. How about the topmost parking lot (MUDA) opposite to Anjali Cinema?
