Write up and pics

Then at about 9:45am we proceeded for Mercy Home (old age home) located near Holy Child School, Madanryting. We met the Sisters in-charge and handed over the token of our love for the aged.
About 20 to 30 of the elders came out to feel the warmth of the bright sunlight while others were either unable to enjoy the warm sunlight due to age. This way we distributed the socks and the woolen caps, wished them and sat beside them for few words of encouragements. They shared about their experiences of living together as a family in the Mercy Home and about the homely treatment by the Sisters who cares for them. We could see few of them shedding tears, others smiling and welcoming us. There was one wonderful lady who is 106 years of age, yet smiling and encouraging our small humane effort with her pleasant and sweet voice. The few minutes we spent with them made us to ponder at our own future as well, whether our kids would also abandon us when we are crippled and in no position take care of ourselves. Well we never know.

Well I am not much of a writer so do enjoy the pictures.

The following items were donated for Mercy Home (Old Age Home):
60 Nos. of Blanket which can be used as a shawl.
60 pairs of winter socks.
60 Nos. of wollen caps.

Looks like Dragon in the Red Bag got some special gifts! Anyway, he is the eldest amongst us, so I guess he is going to be the first one to land in Old Age Home.

The neat and tidy dormatory of the Elders. Very well maintained and clean. I am sure its much better and more organised than most of our bedrooms, isn't it?

Congrats to this 106 years old granny. Happy to see us and greeted us with a charming smile. She was praising the institutions for their good works and showered her blessings on us as well.

The old man in front was sheding tears. I am not sure whether they were tears of happiness to see us or tears of memories of his children. But "All is well" to have a lady partner consoling him.

Friendship and love will keep us alive! Thats the spirit.

I remember shaking hands with the lady in brown shawl (walking). As soon as she shook hands she started rebuking me. I got scared and was confused whether she was greeting me, thanking me or... i dont know.... She did this thrice with me and was literally confused whether I should extend my hand for a shake. Later I came to know that she is a psychiatrist patient.

Hey Mate, thanks for the update (Pics with Cool Captions)... But, some of the pics aint loading properly and looks all blurred up. I dont know if its my line problem, tho i dont think so. Most probably, the pic hosting site is the culprit behind the pixelated lot... he he he....

At about 11:30am when all the greetings and gifts were handed over, we then headed for Ferrando Speech and Hearing Center, Umiam. Traffic jam and the approaching Christmas congested the narrow Shillong road to a large extent with shoppers and vehicles.

We reached the institution, met the Sisters in-charged and handed over our gift of love for the “Special People”. There were about 200 Special People but only few of them were present on that day since most have left for home to spend the festive and winter season with their family. So we distributed sweets to the children who were happy to see us. It brings me tears of happiness at the thought that we are lucky people to be riding, driving, running and communicating without any physical obstacles, but again, felt sorry for the other “Special People” for their unfortunate disabilities.

In the present scenario one would surely come across many who do not even know how to speak a sentence correctly, yet I was surprised and felt so glad to hear one of them who is crippled responding so very politely and fluently in English. I am sure the Sisters and have put a lot of effort in providing the necessary education to help them grow as loving individuals. Thanks to them and God Bless them abundantly with lots of strength and support, for voluntarily extending their warm and tender hands towards the “Special People”. And yes! I cannot forget to thank and to mention about the tasty cakes from the Sisters.

For Ferrando Speech and Hearing Center, Umiam the following items were donated for the 200 Nos. of “Special Students”:

1. 50kgs of Rice Bag
2. 200 Nos. of washing soap
3. 200 Nos. of bathing soap
4. 200 Nos. of Hair Oil
5. 1 Jar of achar
6. 1 tin of 15 lts. of Mastard Oil
7. Sweet packets.

You are very much welcome buddy. Sure we are going to make this even better this 2010 Christmas and New year 2011 Celebration.
Well anyone can do it if someone takes the initiative with the support of like-minded bikers and philanthropist. The event would not have been a success without the support and active participation of all the members and associates. Thanks to them.

And ya, I shall convey your regards to Jaja. Shankar's profile has not yet been created. Most of the members did not re-register after xbhp site crashed some years back.

3rd and Final Session.

After all the social work was done, the love showed, it was time for everyone to do some charity to our own stomach. So we headed towards 7 mile near Dragon's locality. Had little food to sustain the energy, did the shopping of chicken and grocery and rushed towards a football field located near Geological Earth Station and near Wirphniang Waterfall.

As time was short, it was already 2:30pm by then and darkness sets earlier during winters, we hasted and took the jungle path which was seldom taken by the 4 wheels. Sorry to say that many 4 wheels had to bear the scratches on their body due to the twigs and branches that cover the katcha path.

As soon as we reached we started collecting rocks to be used as "chulas support", collected water from a nearby stream, and most of them lending support in cutting the vegetables, firewoods, etc etc. It was already dark when we started having our "brunchner" (

a combination of breakfast, lunch and dinner together

). Everybody had their fill of the tasty chicken and the perfect rice cooked by special Chefs namely Al Kharkongor, Dragon, Ignesius and Teidor

). I hope I did not miss the other assistant chefs

.

Most of the guys were enjoying the born-fire while few of us were busy packing up things since few of us had to catch up for the Mid-Night Mass at several different Church on occassion of Christmas. The rest were washing the big cooking untensils and the plates (Conrad, Ru and myself)

. Well we sure had a hard time cleaning them without any soap and adequate quatity of water. [I hope Dragon and company did not have a hard time getting them shining again.

] Anyway it was fun.

When everything was packed, we all headed for our own destination. It was a day that everyone felt satisfied to have contributed for a cause, a Christmas celebration never enjoy in such as manner.

I personally feel it is a moment of joy that all the members cooperated and responsded positively towards this cause and celebration. Though the early start of the day was late, everything went fine except for the fact that we were too short of time for a proper celebration.

As I have come to the end of this writeup, I would like to thank each and everyone who have contributed to this day by way of moral support, financial support and by their presence. Thanking all those who accompanied for the shopping. A special thanks also goes to kirosh_03 and friends from Chennai for their contribution and support. Nothing would have been accomplished without the participation of all the members and associates. So Cheers to everybody and thankyou once again!

Regarding Pics: There are about a hundred pics in the thread and therefore takes a lot of time for loading from another site (tinypic.com). Refresh it once or twice and wait for the pic to load. In case you desperately want to put your eyes on them you can check Dragon's album in orkut.
