thank you
say for a 1000D you can have several after market companies making the lenses for it.
The lenses are of standard sizes and will be cheaper than the original spares.
The Sony however are a totally diff ball game. They have exclusive stuff for their products and also end up being costlier.- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

Yes Canon lenses fit only on Canon bodies, same for Nikon too, this doesn't mean that you can fit an SLR lens(film camera) on a DSLR body. There are many lens manufacturers out there Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, Rokinon etc. to name a few, but i would highly recommend sticking to Canon lenses if buying a Canon camera and Nikon lenses if buying a Nikon camera.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Posttnx man,i have a noob question,do these lenses only fit a specific model or brand?

It's better to stick with Canon or Nikon you can't go wrong with any of these, it's like comparing apples to apples. Alpha range is good only if have a budget of 40k-50k and more. Alpha 200 is a big no-no!!

that statement is absolutely wrong...Originally posted by anthonydcruz View Post.....this doesn't mean that you can fit an SLR lens(film camera) on a DSLR body. .
within a system, you can fit all film lenses on the digital bodies, as the film lenses always cover the area of image.
some of the newer (canon's EF-S series and Nikkor DX lens series) cannot fit/work on film cameras because they cannot cover the entire film frame which is larger than the smaller sensor of the regular DSLR's.
any canon EF (not EF-S) and any post 1980 Nikkor (non DX) lens will fit fine on both film and digital SLRs of canon and Nikon respectively (i have a film SLR and have used its lens on digital SLRs also). This is what an interchangable lens system is supposed to mean.Last edited by Psycho_McCrazy; 12-30-2009, 08:06 PM. Guys is the Sony HX1 capable of taking professional lenses like the high end Canons and Nikons? My bro recently purchased one. I read it has a panoramic feature as well where in the user can swing the cam within a 180 degree radius and get a panoramic shot. Is this true? Please advise.
it's my first post on this thread and I apologise if I have asked a repeat question.10 Commandments:

Nope!! Sony HX1 is an ultrazoom fixed lens point and shoot camera... though it has all the features of a DSLR camera (P, A, S, M), it is not possible to change the lenses.Originally posted by 46wannabe View PostGuys is the Sony HX1 capable of taking professional lenses like the high end Canons and Nikons? It's not just the costs but picture quality, storage(sony uses the compact flash which is very expensive and canon uses SD/SDHC) and much more, for more info check out this link. I would highly recommend u to go through the full review.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Postthanks again!
