phew, that learning curve was a rouge wave !
the upgrade was like the bullets running on efi .. somethings are best left alone (or engineered, tuned and tested thoroughly before coming out in to the public)

Re: A step back to VB4

Thanks a ton to mods for bringing back technically challenged noobs like me...VB5 was more like a game of thorns. The fact that mods should take note of is, any new learning curve demands alot of unlearning of already acquired skill sets and relearning new skills which often is difficult. So newer versions of any software should make unlearning gradual n relearning simplified which was not the case with VB5. Anything radical, sounds cool but is practically non viable.

Are they going to open up a beta-port/site for vB5 testing so that interested end-customers can check and give inputs?
By end customers, do you mean Xbhp members?
Well, no such plan immediately, but yes, the suggestion is a good one. Will try working on this suggestion.

It could be an address on Xbhp itself, where members can test the new version within any implications on our existing data.

Newer is not necessarily better!! Thanks God for the rollback. The newer interface didn't look better. On top of that a few things were irritating. Like no jumping to the latest page of a thread from the home page!

Re: A step back to VB4

Thats more like it! I didnt even bother to visit xbhp with vb5 so didnt notice the change till today noon.

Guys please run UAT (User Acceptance Test), I mean serious UAT with the xbhp members who are willing to contribute, you dont need to bring testers and pay them, just a normal testers like any of us who would use the site day in day out. The software testers would look out at the software and core level rather than functionality. Please dont rush for a launch, I am pretty sure you are not running to achieve any specific deadline drafted by idiotic Projects Manger who knows shit about the thing being delivered.

Happy to see this layout, please ask developers visit the vb4 first and ask them make this more efficient rather than re-inventing the wheel.

                            My 2 cents.

Edit - PS: Come on Sunil, it is not step back, it is indeed step in right direction till the migration is complete.

                            Cheers!

Re: A step back to VB4

All the posts from the last few days(the VB5 era) seem to have got lost in transition. But, this layout looks better. It's not that we are against change but this layout is so much vibrant and colorful! If the developers can build something on this very layout and platform, that'd be better.
