            Hi Ezilkannan,

Im curious to know why the Duke over the above. What makes it so interesting?

Even though my money is on the new Pulsar... My most anticipated bike for the year is undoubtedly the CBR...

I think its an important step for the global leader in the Indian biking scene..

It will pressurise the japanese competition as well as the Indian companies to think along the same line..

Finally a chance for the Indian biking scene to mature...

              Honda CBR500R - 54.7PS? KTM 390 - 43.5PS? P375 - 41PS?

The first two are incorrect and the last one no one knows what will be the final power figure

                Hi MG,

Why do you think the first 2 figures are incorrect?

The Honda's figures are unconfirmed yet officially but there is already a buzz on the internet with the (unrestricted for European License) bike making 54 bhp which translates to 54.7 Ps.

However Duke's figure of 32KW is a confirmed figure and that translates into 42.9 bhp and 43.5 Ps. So that is accurate.

Pulsar is just my guess but I firmly beleive it will be in that range keeping the way the Pulsar-Duke 200 twins came out.

From what I read Honda will be developing around 47bhp whereas the Duke 44.5PS. For Pulsar we can probably keep a range of 40-44PS in the poll

                  P.S: 32KW=43.5PS, 44HP=44.6PS

The Honda produces 47bhp and it is confirmed in its European website. Please note that no other country's website all over the globe (USA to Aus) have the power figures mentioned. Its a clear indication that the other markets will get an unrestricted bike. Also Im very sure that a 2013 Honda P Twin cannot just produce 47Ps out of its 471cc.

Secondly, The Duke does not produce 44HP, you can check the KTM global website for the power figures. It says 32 KW which is as mentioned already just 43.5Ps thats all.

KTM 390 Duke ABS 2013 - Technische Daten

Pulsar, I beleive wont produce more power than the KTM especially with its SOHC head. So with it perceivably getting an Fi system over carb. The most ideal figure would be 41Ps. My arrival to this figure is the percentage lesser power produced by Pulsar 200 (23.5Ps) when compared to the Duke 200 (25Ps - 2012 and 25.8Ps - 2013).

For all you power to weight fans...

                    CBR500R - 54.7 Ps / 175 kgs dry weight = 313 Ps/ ton

                    Duke390 - 43.5 Ps / 139 kgs dry weight = 313 Ps/ ton

                    Hows that...

although of all the bikes mentioned in the poll, i like ninja300 the most, but since i will not be able to buy it for its price, the most awaited bike for me is pulsar375, and since most probably i will buy a new bike in jan, i am eagerly awaiting for more details to emerge about P375.

What is the source of your data? It is wrong ... !!

The CBR500R weighs 193 Kgs and the ABS version is about 3 Kgs heavier.

If we *assume* that it makes the 54.7 PS that you saying the P/W Ratio falls to 283, and most of the other non-confirmed non-official sources say that its around 47 PS, the P/W Ratio falls down to 249!

                        Hows that ...

First of all Im not a believer in all this power to weight thing. There have been proofs of this being a non sense in our own country.

However clarifying your reply, 193kgs is the Kerb weight my friend not the dry weight. I had clearly mentioned in my previous post saying its dry weight and not with all the fluids in.

The power to weight ratio universally is always calculated on the dry weight of the bike and not the kerb weight (dont know for what reason though!!)

A CBR with 47 Ps is more than enough to belt the KTM anyways... However as mentioned earlier.. India should get the unrestricted version as there are no power restrictions in our country for any purpose.

Well dont be dreaming of unofficial Honda figures of 47bhp!! Its already confirmed and below is the link

                          CBR500R | Honda/2013

However please note that this is just the European version... I know you wont beleive me... look at the top right corner to see the country and drop down the list to see the other countries where these specs are applicable....
