homologation is the process done by the indian govt to see whether a vehicle is road worthy or not as bigger engines pollute the environment thats why....Originally posted by rahulingle1 View Post@ kinshuk
dear i dn't understand term "homologated" plz explain in detail. for RC book we need the AIAR approval before that. and then we can think for the registration company.
plz explain the term. thanx.
i dont know much about it but the various companies are not able to bring in their sub800c.c. bikes because of this process as the amount involved in it is very substantial please check on it from an expert...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

u can find some information at ARAI web. but it did not help us out. a friend, xbhpn from chennai come to rescue he is with RE and technical engineer. he know the procedure. as he give it to. u can find it here in the same thread.
look developing a complete new engine is the ultimate aim. for now at least we can develop a crankcase !!Last edited by rahulingle1; 08-10-2010, 12:42 AM.sigpic

Its' ARAI not AIRA, it stands for Automotive Research Association of India.
Located at Vetal Hill, and rahul it is in Kothrud, Pune..visit them n you can find all rules and safety regulations... AIS standards.
you can contact them, and clarify all your doubts,,
if your Engine will be able to achieve the required emission levels then you might apply for legal certificate from them..
their web: Automotive Research And Development, Automotive Service Provider, India, Vehicle Type Certification, Automotive Testing And Calibration, Vehicle Design Labs, Advanced Automotive Design Standards, Automotive Engineering Coursegot bhp?? oh yeah..its Xbhp

homologation is a process of getting approval for your vehicle from Government approved authority, like;Originally posted by rahulingle1 View Post@ kinshuk

ARAI-Pune,
VRDE- Aehmednagar
ICAT-manesar, gurgaon
some more at chennai, Indore, they all come under NATRIP, National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project.
coming back to topic,
say ARAI have defined some vehicle test for engine, chassis etc etc to ensure its safety and reliability. they will test each and every part, system of your vehicle, if any automotive manufacturer wants to launch his new product in market, he has to take all necessary test done by these regulatory authorities...
it ensures the safety of our society, environment and maintains enough competitiveness among all automakers.
all the best...

Does ARAI entertain individual cases?
,for Homologation purposes, engine certification.
They Do offer homologation services to ppl who Directly Import their vehicles. (like a Ferrari, or Maserati, all our SBKs, etc.)
But do they offer the services for Home built machines?
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

I doubt ARAI offer their services for Home built machines. Also, once they are done testing it, you'll probablly have to junk that bike and build another one!85 RD350

i don't want to sound rude and illegal..
but still why are you worrying about arai ??
if you have seen the pics, you'll know that people have accomplished the task of vee-ing a bullet.
in bike india last year one dude built a bike out of a m800 engine.
don't these people ride it on roads?
lets build it first...
regarding paperwork and legality, we'll go for a legal way if it doesn't happen that way, then we'll think about other means.
the most important task is BUILDING that engine first, if it happens successfully then all these things will come in existence.
besides as far as i know even if it is not road legal with papers, you can ride it in private complexes and race tracks !!
if we as one effort build this bike and the entire community of 23 thousand people knock arai doors to get it registered, i don't think they'll still NOT to it.
don't be disheartened rahul.
lets make it first then we'll talk about legal formalities.Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.
