Agreed.Originally posted by flanker View PostNo bike can be sold only on virtue of its company Brand. The company brand will only make people go to the showroom but if the model/bike does not deliver or please the customer it would not sell!
so far, HH and HMSI has delivered on the expectations of Indian consumer. It is recently that the need of the new Indian consumer has changed and i think HH and HMSI should do something fast to address this change in the need.
That is the reason why i mentioned that HH/HMSI "bike sales majorly (not solely) is based on their company brand image compared to the merits of the bike"
No doubt their bikes are tried and tested but they are resting on the laurels and doing nothing.... HH's sad stall at auto expo says volumes of whats going on in their minds... Auto expo is great platform to showcase what the company is working on and how they see their product mix in the near future....
HH's auto expo stall was just like their showroom, only without a service station!Last edited by mac187; 09-30-2008, 03:45 PM.

This bike may not have been designed to turn heads or give blistering performance but this bike has better balance than most of the road bikes in it's category on the track, though it's not actually used, it could prove to be quite a contender if properly channelised, after all who thought that TVS Victors would have seperate Group for them in racing?I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

Its not only the machine but its the man together creating wonders .No matter how powerful a machine is , one can see its true colore only when we know to extract the juse out of it . Honda is a good bike if used wisely .
About the cosmetic change . I would have been more happy if at least they made some other variant like what they did for the 125 cc ( shine , stunner )
This is what i own a humble , simple Uni

Unicorn on the Track?
Stop Kidding dudes ... They are just fooling the common public ... Only the Xbhp members don't get fooled!
Engine upgrade may not be necessary as it's still a commuter, & mileage is an issue, but what about Half Fairing, Clip ons, Open Chains, Split Seats, Digi Speedos, etc. ??
Atleast make it comparable to CBF Stunner, HMSI ... Listening?? Pathetic Situation ...

Have you ever ridden the Uni, better question...have you ridden any bike on the race track ???
The uni is one the best bikes available in INdia, excellent bike for the city use an amazing tourer and a very good bike on the race track.it is an allrounder.
Ther was an article in bike India where the Uni outperformed the pulsar anf the apache on the race track.
Half Fairing, Clip ons, Open Chains, Split Seats, Digi Speedos - do not make bikes they are just a part of it.the uni has an amazing buttersmooth super refined engine , excellent stability, decent head lamps, good milege and good performance(for a 150 cc) .

"Originated from the Honda’s racing DNA, The Limited edition Unicorn Grand Prix Edition Is designed to bring the authentic racing experience every time you ride it. "
The above are the quotes from Honda Website. I do not have any clue how stickers would bring in so called 'authentic racing experience'??
HOnda, if you are reading this, could you please enlighten us?

ummm... i think all he was saying was to put in 'atleast' those fairing, chains... instead of sticker jobs for the new avatar...Originally posted by steveburnside2001 View PostHave you ever ridden the Uni, better question...have you ridden any bike on the race track ???

yeah i agree uni is a good runner. it was tested on track 2 years back and it 'did' beat pulsar and tvs then. but there has been no further track checks. now the other two are track checked with zma literally!
the point is, getting 2 upgrades already done on base model and the third now being only sticker job feels sick.
chill... my 2cents...
all honda 'has' and 'lacks' is the roar of the engine. and thats why people mistake it to be a commoners bike. the same reason why CB1000R, an amazing bike, is finding it tough in the market.
the question is, 'can honda fool the 'aam admi' by their 'desh ki dhadkan' ad and brandname and get away with these cosmetic changes with more sales ?!'Last edited by shadez; 10-01-2008, 05:59 AM.BIKER ...the thrill and sense of self-fulfilment is obtained from living a little dangerously!

Accepted that Uni is gem of a bike. it's ultra smooth and somehow i love the silent exaust sound.
Uni is excellent in city, highway and on twisties. No Doubt. But then if you want to grow then you have to accept the very basic rule of nature. And that is "Changes". Mere cosmatic changes cannot help Uni anymore, even after being excellent bike i don't see new Unicorn on our Roads as much i see Pulsars, Apache's, Xtreme's and Hunk's. Unicorn deserve much better attention then it is getting right now.
So Honda kindly wake up and Get us a real upgrade. 13.3 Bhp is no match these days....

I totally agree to your point ... But all we might not know is " May be Honda is cooking some thing in its head for the coming years" Lets all hope for the bestOriginally posted by sherry_unicornlover View PostAccepted that Uni is gem of a bike. it's ultra smooth and somehow i love the silent exaust sound.

Guys you all know that Honda is always slow on new bikes, because their bikes are made to run years (mechanically). If they will start launching new bikes every month then their bikes will lose value, making second hand market even worse.
I dont find any problem in their engines and their reliability/affordability. Their focus is still affordable bikes. Looking at fuel prices I think they are somewhat right.
Now about Unicorn, I am sure they will be working on new Unicorn. These sticker jobs are just to keep it in highlight. Great products takes great amout of time to make.sigpic

Well, I have driven a Uni, but not on track & not above 6000 rpm ... smooth ride!
Guys, I heard on Xbhp only that, ZMA will receive upgrades after CBR 1000 is released (same old CBU 10+ lacs Price
)
I mean, R15 was released only after R1 ... similarly, uni may also get an upgrade after CBR's release .... getting my point? I think it's possible ...

@ modifii: Agreed; In this matters I appreciate TVS, they improve their Apache, add bigger discs, etc. and STILL, price is not "too heavy" ... and you can get the old 150 too for less price!! Getting my point?

I'm still banging my head on where is this colour scheme used?? I now see it more close to Suzuki bikes?
What do you say quality-wise? Regarding 2nd-hand machine, from the owner's/ seller's perspective? HH/ HMSI has a better resale value..Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post@ modifii: Agreed; In this matters I appreciate TVS, they improve their Apache, add bigger discs, etc. and STILL, price is not "too heavy" ... and you can get the old 150 too for less price!! Righty!Originally posted by pundrick View PostI guess Extreme, Achiever, Uni and Hunk has same engine (tweaked differently) and injection technique. Yes they offer 4 varieties of stickers and handling.
Even here just injection tech. is different, isn't it?Originally posted by pundrick View PostRTR and RTR FI makes two genuine variations in its breed.
Well... if you see, some people have 150+cc bikes for occassional use, while some use it for daily commute...Originally posted by pundrick View PostApache is not only directed towards performance oriented people, cos people today buy 150 for commuting as well. RTR is a nice city bike by virtue of its handling and flickering abilities. Sachin endorsing RTR can increase curiosity among people who are not aware of that this machine is an all rounder.
When, I went for buying my bike, the HH showroom dude told, Karizma is owned by people who already have 2-3 bikes at home, and use this 225cc thing, ocassionally.. though, numerous people use it daily. But, the majority of it's buyers are performance enthus, though the bike is made for commuting only.. (I am not yet sleepy.. so...
) as a matter of fact every bike is manufactured for commuting, and not for stunting or racing!
(Mods, pardon me... hope this ain't OT
) All the more TVS market it as a performance bike though, it doesn't matter if someone delivers pizzas on it..
Regarding Sachin's endorsements, he's grown old/ not in form and people would consider just another Sachin ad and overlook the subject...
Ads with no known celebs, but cool stunts > Ads with known celebs, but bike standing still.
And, Honda... just an upgrade in power/ new bike and all your haters will like you again...
