I bought this engine from Dongben China. Similar engine is also available with Yingang. The engine nomenclature used by companies is DB170MM and YG170MM. DB, YG stands for company name. 1 for 1 cylinder and 70mm for cylinder size. This engine was imported legally by me and costed around INR52-54K all inclusive. It took me full six months to install. The work is still going on. I can't devote much time now. Feel free to ask any questions you have and my full support is assured.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Posti know it will be a big writeup but it will be of help to many of us especialy who wants a big bike performance but dont have lakhs of rupees to spend....

The weight has increased a little but not much. Handling and everything is fine. I plan to stiffen the front suspension a little to take care of offroading and extra weight. I am also planning a leg guard which will support the chassis and also protect the radiator and engine.Originally posted by raja_roadster View Postdoesn't the extra weight of engine affect the chasis ignore if my question is stupidous i'm not much of a techy

Thats a wonderful job ma...finally justice done for that chasis and the sturdy built FZ...as somebody said...Yamaha should take cue from many of these diehard DIY fans and do bikes...of late YMIS has given some wonderful bikes after the RX100 / 135 eraOriginally posted by yaglav View PostThe weight has increased a little but not much. If you re attempting tfor an offroader have look on KTM's front suspensions and fork set up and one more additional aspect is they might give way to fit a 19' wheel so a high set handle bar for a better handling offroad can be made although will it fit directly is a big question ;just give it a look if you ve not yet given this approach ; moreover sourcing one if it fitsOriginally posted by yaglav View PostThe weight has increased a little but not much. @raja_roadster: I am not a offroad driver. By offroading I just meant my oncoming trip to Leh. The handle I have almost prepared for non-stop continuous driving and will post the pics in a day.
Suspension is fine as such. Stiffening is required just to take care of two riders and all the stuff to be carried along for the Leh Trip.
I agree that styling is great in an FZ and hence I have retained as much as possible in the bike. But the driving posture was uncomfortable when driving for hours at a stretch. Hence the handle modifications.
Cheers.......

Great build mate, nice to see a 250cc Fz. One small doubt. What about the maintenance. I know you can do the servicing by your self but when it comes to replacing the engine parts in long run ? Is there any bike with similar engine componened sold here?Originally posted by yaglav View Post@raja_roadster: I am not a offroad driver. By offroading I just meant my oncoming trip to Leh. My best wishes for your Leh Trip ; btw that i think the riding position would be sporty in an FZ so try to bring in a straight posture as in karizma's ,it would reduce the stress on your back in a long journeyOriginally posted by yaglav View Post@raja_roadster: I am not a offroad driver. New engines are good and last a long time. This bike would be single handedly used by me and mainly for travelling to himalayas or long route journeys only. I expect this to last long. In case part is required, it can be imported from the manufacturer in China. Even today getting parts for eight year old Fiero is quite difficult, so will see when it happens.Originally posted by vineeth areth View PostGreat build mate, nice to see a 250cc Fz.
