Agree with you 100% buddy. Work commitments stand between you and your riding buddies. That is why I prefer solo touring. So I dont have to suggest someone to make changes with their commitments. But I am open to groupo touring as well. But the preference is to do solo

              Solo rides are the best
Its about being with ur bike on your own, being a traveler, its gives much more flexibility in exploring new places.

Personally I feel much safer being solo

Aah finally a like minded soul. I have done a few long solo rides. They had their good points. But I prefer smaller groups of 2-3 like-minded tourers.

With such a setup, you get pretty much all the advantages of solo rides, plus you get to have great conversations at stops. Everyone has a different experience about the ride.
Makes the whole journey more enriching.
Not to mention that you get more pics and dont have to write the whole log by yourself :P

i cant resist posting here even though i am 4 months too late.
I am an inexperienced biker, been riding for just two years now. I have done only four tours so far. And on all four tours i was alone.
                          1. Kanpur to Keoladeo National Park and back 750 kms
                          2. Kanpur-Allahabad-Rae Bareilly-Lucknow-Kanpur 600kms
                          3. Kanpur to Kanyakumari and Back 7000kms
                          4. Kanpur to Gurgaon and back 1000kms

I like touring and since i dont have any like minded friends i just go ahead with my plans. I have never done a group (big or small) ride, so i cannot compare.
But i can vouch for Solo riding. If you have any problems in life then just pick up your bike and hit the road. Problem Solved
A big advantage of touring solo is that you are forced to interact with locals wherever you go. That improves the riding experience. You also find your true self. The demon and the saint within you.
and i started biking at 22
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Though i am late but better late than never.

Firstly the touring bug bit me when i rode to leh, pahalgam, gulmarg from delhi with a like minded rider called palani kumar and all this ride was done with my trusted steed 6 years old splendor.

After i came to pune i took ride from pune to goa in rains which was my first solo long tour again on my trusted steed. The solo ride taught me many things as i felt i was responsible for myself and to be frank you all would be surprised as all i had was helmet and normal gloves with raincoat. i never knew what is safety gear or many new things we talk now.

After joining xbhp i used to ride alone to kolhapur on splendor and come back alone. Some may laugh on this stupidity but i used to enjoy it.

After upgrading myself with R15 i have done 2 solo tours only till now one was at malshej and other was at panchgini.

Looking to ride long but yeah solo ride makes me happy.

Yeah, I guess the different rides ( solo, just two, small groups, big groups... ) is like a spread on a buffet table for us riders. We can pick up and choose what we like. What finally matters is that we love to ride !!

My first proper biking tour was a lone ride which I did recently. Unlike others I had the problem of being a rookie and also I ride an old bike. But still it was the TRUST on my bike which made me go for it. I realized that lone riding gives a sense of relaxation and you don't have to wait nor you have to rush on the way. Its just you and the bike(girl).
