        1. Are both these available in the stock sizes ? Are either of them tubeless tyres ?
        2. If so ,would you give me exact model numbers please?
        3. How good are Pirelli tyres ? I keep hearing that the Sport Demon is a good tyre but heavy.I wouldn't want to lose out on the low/midrange power - I get my kicks out of out-accelerating most bikes!
        4. Why did you not go for Michelins in the front ?

Afterword- Picked up the Michelin Sirac 100/90 *18 for the rear.

        • Again, I dont understand why people relate one engine's cubic capacity to another.
An old Ambassador cannot to be compared to a Honda Vtec, although both are 1500cc . CC is not the ONLY criteria in going fast. And not 2 engines have the same potential.
The P150 is light years BEHIND the RTR160 with just 10cc lesser.

          • Well, there are various factors which determine the potential of an engine.
Cylinder head deisgn, valve size, cam profile, combustion efficiency, Ignition setup, fuelling, flow efficiency etc which are primary factors to make power. A p150 has a pint sized exhaust valve and the head deisgn is far from being anywhere close to being racy, right from the bore/stroke and piston design. The cylinder head was never meant to flow at high rpms and was mainly targetted at only low-mid power. Having said that, it was purely a commuter engine and not performance targetted.
The gains to expect are far from being practical. You rather buy the bigger p220 to get that full gain.

The RTR on the other hand, with just 10cc more has a diff bore/stroke with revised valve sizes over the fiero, better head flow etc which make it more high-rpm oriented than the P150. With a higher port velocity and flow, the RTR sure has an edge over the P150 which was never meant to be a performance engine.

There are various design purposes behind every engine, so which is why all 150cc engines dont perform the same way. Most are commuter oriented with just low-mid power, while engines like the R15 and RTR love to be revved hard.
if you wanna go fast, get a faster engine. No good wasting money on a slower engine. It will only frustrate you.
            Please keep this thread clean.

I asked this question on the engine oils thread but did not get a reply
I picked up a can each (Total Rs.990/-) of
                1.Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40 (Mineral oil(?))
                2.Motul 300V 10W40 Factory Line double ester

After installing the bore kit ,is it okay if I put in the 1st can for the first 1000 kms -running in period.Drain at 1000 kms and put in the FS?
I've also read that it's better to put in mineral oils for the first 3000 kms or so.Is this true ?

You are getting Joel's bore kit which you had mentioned in the engine oil thread...Joel had done the work on the kit and, is the best person to answer the question..Send a PM to him and get the CORRECT guidance ,since he knows better.

                  • Hi princesirohi,

You want to know when a RTR 160 can be upgraded why not Pulsar 150?

I think you got this question because the Bore assembly and crank case looks identical in all Pulsars.

                    Before getting in too technical.

                    Its plain and simple,

We all know Pulsar has different variants and if you like a different bore, no need to disturb Joel, you can get it from any Bajaj service center.Try a P220 bore and check out it out, even the self motor will refrain from spinning. Within days the P150 will reach its EOL.

Moreover the Logic is very very simple,

Just collect the Spares chart for all the Pulsar variants and observe it, the Cam, Crank bearing etc etc will slightly differ between Pulsar 150 and 180. P220 has most of its parts different from the P150, this is just to accommodate more compression and heat. Thats the only reason to have a different exhaust as well.

So if you plan to get your P150 Joeled then he has to first convert your P150 into a P220 with its spares and do you think it would be wise to get this done while the Pulsars are the most Cheapest bikes in their class???

Coming to the RTR and P150, I humbly request you not to compare them both. Right from the gearing to clutch assembly the RTR is derived from a Racing perspective. May be in market place you can compare both the bikes in terms of Mileage, Price etc, but technically both are different.

No Offense, lets focus on only the performance upgrades which are meant for the bikes that deserve them.

                    • Regarding the Technical difference between RTR and Pulsar,

I have tons to type, but will just tell you one small tiny difference, if you try understanding this you will get to know why they are completely different.

When you compare an RTRs crankshaft with Pulsar or any other Indian made bike(X r15) you can find the blades not in perfect 180 degrees, it will be slightly inclined at an angle, but for an RTR am not sure about the exact angle in which the blades are inclined. For an R15 it 177.XX obtuse (Differs between batches).

But when you look at a Pulsar or any other bike (X R15) the blades with be in exact 180 degrees.

Do a research and find why this is designed this way and the other things associated with this and you will understand the World of difference between the Pulsar and RTR (And the R15).

I will try giving a clue, the only street bike to sport a cross plane crankshaft is the 2010 R1. So you try understanding What is What.....

                            Hello Joel sir,

Can the performance upgrades for Pulsar 200/220 be applied to Avenger 220, as both have the same heart.

                            • yes, except the exhaust as it has a different layout.

                              • Joel,

Do you still work on Apache 150 anymore?? And are you focusing only on the engine or do you have other plans for the rest of the bike? suspension etc?

Also, regarding your kit for the RTR 160, is it applicable for the RTR fi?

I am moving to Bangalore very soon and your 'Race Concepts' seems like a great welcome banner!

                                cheers!
