  • Hey guys!! I have been following a lot of reviews of the Daytona 675r by MCN and others.... I am pretty impressed with the bike and over the fact that it is going to be released in India sometime soon (as if we are living a dream for my generation)...
Anybody knows when these triumphs are launching?? And is the daytona 675r in the lineup?? because the site speaks only about daytona 675. What do the other members think of the bike?

    Lets start saving

        Hello everyone,
        (query for a friend)

Is it possible in any way to import YAMAHA R6 to India?
If so what would be the charges - custom duty, tax, invoice, bills?
What other points should be considered regarding registration, insurance?
Details of contact person would be highly appreciated?
He is currently located in Pune, will probably be relocating b the end of this year.
Any info/opinion/criticism/suggestion from your end will be taken with thanks. Cheers!

Although people have replied to this query numerous times in other threads but let me explain it again.
Importing a new bike that too a sub 800cc in India will be a costly affair, costly enough that you can add few more to that and can get a Indian invoiced litre class.
What I remember the duty to import a new one would be around 144% on top of the market value at the place from you are buying, adding on to it, there would be shipping and freight charges and loads of paper work involving customs people and DRI. Not to forget, insurance would be 3rd party, means you will not be able to claim anything if something happens to the bike. In addition to it, the parts needs to be ordered from other countries as it would be difficult to get OEM parts here.

In short it would cost you around 12-13lacs , where as you can get a liter class out of showroom in 15.5-16lacs. My two cents : wait for few more months, get a Daytona.

Still if you are persistent on getting one imported drop a mail to goforkrp.com

            Hello Prateek.
Thanks you bro. Is Daytona launching the 675 sports in India when it comes? I sincerely hope it does.

If the bike model you have is sold as a cbu by the dealer then they can get you a chip based blank key and have it program matched to the original key. Am quoting from my experience of getting a spare for my hayabusa. The key came from US however I got the chip re programmed at dealer in Bangalore.

the blank key in India was 1250 cheaper that what I paid for it in US, re programming costed me 800.

PS don't ask how I managed to lose the key.

Do you have any idea about it's ex-showroom price? I love this bike, very interested in buying one if I have the money.

u cannot import a sub <800 cc cbu in india (cbu only)...manufacturer cannot also import for u..u need some juggad
and yes i agree spares will be a huge issue ..

prior to 2005 when superbikes werent accesible people used to import spares @20% customs
and built them into bike(a direct cbu then was 110%)

all such bikes were illegal because of avoiding taxes
so importing spares and building a bike IMHO is still a no no and could land u in trouble

Everyone is saving money, I dunno when will my time come (bad in savings). The Daytona 675 is so tempting! - the first legal supersports in india. On the other hand, recent releases by Kawi is unbeatable either. The market is flooded with options, just that - 'You should have money'; who says money doesn't buy you happiness; I agree to disagree here.....
