170 PS at the rear wheel is about 5 PS more than the '08 right..?
That's pretty decent if one considers the new crank i guess. Slightly more power coupled with supposedly better usabilty seems like a good bet.
Like you said.. Only time will tell
But the figures you've posted don't seem promising
The R1 seems to be as peaky as ever....

The Bike was called Desmosedici RR.
Well no one actually forgot about the Duke RR man
A bike like that comes along once in a VERY long time..

But paying as much as you would for a Ferrari makes the RR a dream bike only. An R1 or a Blade would cost half as much as the 1098 does, let alone the RR
And the multipoint micro fuel injected part seems more like a filmi punchline than a feature from the specsheet

The RSV however is priced competetively and on paper seems to blow the socks off all the Japs..

Ross, what's the source of the graph? AFAIK it's not been released to the general public so how did Akra make an exhaust and how did your friend get hold of it to get it on the dyno?

Are you sure it is correct Curve? The "Akrapovic complete exhaust" curve is below the "stock exhaust" curve, in some rpms ... I think it should provide a complete positive gain ...
Secondly, the max rpm comes at 10krpm, NOT 9.1 krpm as this curve suggests ... Anyways, maybe my lack of knowledge..

btw Quite a strange curve, torque decreases 2 times before finally decreasing after 10krpm.

It goes contradictory against what Yamaha ofiicials boasted, that "inertial torque" stuff! They said entire curve will be lifted upside after 7 krpm especially ...?

I got it from him couple of days ago, and posted it here only after verifying the source.

In any case, I hear it's been put up on Akrapovic's website as well, although I did look and did not find it.

Akrapovic, Graves, and Yoshi have had the 09 R1 with them for sometime now to develop the exhausts. It's a known fact from quite sometime.

The figures don't seem promising, and confirms what I felt that the torque seemed down a bit.

More than the power, what we actually need and feel is the torque. What we feel through the bars is usually mistaken for the power

Look again. The Akrapovic complete exhaust curve and the slip on curve is above the stock exhaust, at least where ever it is meant to be.

Don't seem remotely filmi to anyone man : Four 50 mm Magneti Marelli throttle bodies, 12-hole "microjet"with injectors over throttle, manual idle control.. Micro fuel injected != 'microjet' injectors

Anyways. No hard feelings man. I was just clarifying. All of us do goofup once in a while. I happen to belong to that category quite frequently

@Akhil : The torque curves posted seem to have that 'hole' between 5 to 8 grand on the tach..
That's exactly the shortcoming that was pointed out in the '08
The crossplane crank and the shorter stroke engine of the '09 really haven't dethroned the Blade have they..?

Don't make too much of these dyno figures. Let the bike come out in the open market first.

Gotta agree with that. The production version might have a few tweaks probably..

                  It may be wishful thinking.

I feel very happy in this thread and enjoy it,but Honda VFR V5 dreams went to the trash can.How would have been a bike with RCV V5 engine???????????

Anything but 200+hp,superb suspension and a new entrant into the club of road legal 200+hp bikes aka Hayabusa,ZZR1400,Vmax.Low cost that gives the power to go to the moon to the masses.

If I recall Blackbird fans had been expecting this VFR since 2006 so that they can wash their hands of the CBR1100X and get on the latest Busa runner.Still I hope that Honda may finally launch it mid year without any show but full go..........................

Bringing in a Old bike into India

I know it might be there somewhere but I am too lazy to look.

I am trying to sell my ninja here but also thinking of keeping it and if do come back to India, take it with me. What are the custom rules for it? How easy it is to get it through customs? Its 1999.

                      Just testing water.

Ok, time for some ground realities.

The graphs made by Akrapovic that I posted, do not have the same scales as the power and torque axes. If the torque values were plotted to the same scale as the power values, the torque would look a lot more smoother. Can't figure out what made Akrapovic do this

I can picture quite a few Yamaha men all pissed with Akrapovic.

Yeah that was a big letdown. Not sure what happened there. I'd have loved a V5 VFR.

Ok, Since your model is 2nd hand, the custom duties would be 144% ..

BUT, the good news is that your Bike's Depreciated Value will be considered!

CHIEF COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (PREVENTIVE) MUMBAI ZONE - III

At 1999 model, you have 10 years depreciation ... your depreciation turns out to be 86%!

Depreciation rate is Quarterly divided among years. (1st Quarter Depr. - 4%)
                              1st year -- 16%
                              2nd year -- 12%
                              3rd Year -- 10%
                              4rt year and there after -- 8%
and your tax = Bike's Purchase Price X 14% X 144%. I recommend you bring it here, then you can sell it too ...
