Found a nice video of the 09 R1's dyno run:

At 1999 model, you have 10 years depreciation ... your depreciation turns out to be 86%!

and your tax = Bike's Purchase Price X 14% X 144%. I recommend you bring it here, then you can sell it too ...
Thanks. It turns out (I used a value of $10,000 for the original price) to be $2,000. About Rs 1 lakh. I will have to add shipping and other stuff.

Since I am low on cash, I will have to sell it. I am getting about $2,500 easily here. which is about Rs. 1.25 lakhs. Add a duty of Rs 1 lakh = Rs 2.25 lakh. Can I sell it for Rs 4 lakh in India? I do not think so.

          Hmmm.
Since it's a middleweight i guess the resale woun't be very pretty
Perhaps people might change their mind on seeing the bike.

And maybe the fact that 7R's were discontinued by Kawa after 2003 will dent the resale further..?

Yup. The last generation of 7R was in 2003. Unfortunately it uses components not easily available. I mean they are here but not off the shelf.

              That's bad news then
The 7R might not fetch you the sum it deserves due to it being a discontinued bike. The spares drought is only gonna make things worse..

So selling her off in the US of A is a better option right..?

You will get around 2-2.5 for it here.
Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

it mentions in the site that the maximum depreciation is not more than 70%
so 86% is just calculative and not the actual amount.

Dhairya, a clean papers well kept ZX-7R would fetch anywhere between 3-3.5L
If you like the bike, and think it has had a pleasant past, get it down.
2.5K usd, thats 1,25,000, another 1L odd duty, and say another 50K for shipping, and another 50K for the road tax, thats 3,25,000, you will not find a bike as good as yours for that kind of money in India.

                      • you boys might like this.

so today i was having coffee with a friend on this popular street in melbourne when i hear this rumbling sound. it was something you wouldnt hear anywhere else than at a motogp race. i was pretty sure what it was and a few moments later it turns up . a desmosedici rr. for those who dont know its the first true motogp race replica. one of the most expensive production bikes on the planet. not to mention the fastest as well. had a chat with the owner who collects ducatis and had 12 of them . seemed like a great guy and let me take a photo on it. here are the pics taken on a crap camera phone'

                        enjoy..
