When are you coming here then? I've been hearing about it from the last 3 months.

I've already been in Mumbai twice in the last two months on work man. What I meant was I need to come and hang out and do some places about which GS has been holding his fart.

H-D will be a fantastic prospect especially at the prices some of the bikes are selling at.

You know my experience with Yamaha as well. What more can I say Actually, the only positive part about Yamaha's CBU program, is the pricing of common wear and tear parts and consumables.

I don't trust anyone selling a CBU product here. They all seem to have another agenda other than actually catering to the customer. Although H-D is showing signs that it is different, let's see how it goes.

Again, I hope I'm proven wrong with Ducati as well. And I think it's time to make a leisure trip to Mumbai. Bangalore guys are falling behind in the exotics' race.

Inder: No updates as such. I'm back in Bangalore, finalising the details for the import. Only after things are cleared up here, I will complete the purchase in the US.

But am right now in the US trying to close the details up. No sense in hiding it, but am trying to bring a S1000RR back with me. It's an uphill effort at this stage, but BMW is giving things a big push on my behalf. Let's see how it goes.

Not only servicing; the purchase, the customer satisfaction, etc. They are pretty pathetic here in Mumbai. Honda is way better.

Wish you all the best with the brave move you've made, if it all works out according to plan you've made the right choice for yourself. BTW, another friend bought the 1198S.

Yeah I agree. But still doesn't absolve the technician doing the PDI. That is just insane!

Woes with Yamaha - You mean with the servicing aspect? My issue with Ducati wasn't that alone. Either way, I will have to fend for myself with my next bike, but I ended spending a lot less.

Guys 2010 R1 is on display @ yamaha showroom in banglore....MSP motors have displayed a Black r1 and its the only showroom which is displaying a 2010 r1 in whole banglore so if any of u guys wanna check in...hurry up

why do the fuel efficiency of a SBK so less ?
ok let me get my facts and thoughts straight.

A car engine needs to rev much lesser than a bike engine. You'll see all cors are very conservatively redlined at 9K to 10K rpm. And they are tuned that way to drive easy, and deliver max power at very moderate RPMs.

And the converse is for a street bike. Cramming a 1000cc engine into a chassis and extracting the kind of mind numbing performance needs the engine to be a high revving, and in a higher state of tune.

And a car has all the space in the world for a bigger engine. A Street bike does not. It has to make the best out of what it has.

Does anyone know where can one find information about the limited edition bikes? E.g. powersports.honda.com doesnt have information of their L.E.'s. I am particularly interested in looking for information on 2007 fireblade LE. There are loads of pics available on the net but I need official info...

where as on the other hand , a 1000 cc car has a weight of close to 1000 kilos..yet the bike manages to give a slightly similar mileage. Y is this ? i expected a sbK to give a mileage of at least close to 30 ... honestly.. !! AND is this topic already discussed ?

1. To begin with basic numbers: 1000 cc hatchback, 65-70 Bhp odd, whilst an average liter class bike is upwards of 160-170 Bhp, now the BMW rated at 193 Bhp.

2. Mostly, you would find an average big bike owner redline the bike, pull the throttle uselessly (on excusew of warming the motor), etc more often than your four door hatch driver.

3. If ridden at cruising speeds of 100-120 kmph in topmost gear, liter class bikes would yield in the range of 25 kmpl on a long distance trip. Believe it or not, I have seen an indicated 27 kmpl for a few seconds on my 954.

SBK mileage

In a SBK, part of the petrol is utilised in "fueling the ego" , hence the low mileage.
On a more serious note - the acceleration reduces the average . Sedate driving returns an average of about 19 kmpl on my 1000 cc and on the 650 cc gives an average of 25 .
Besides, when astride a big bike, the concern is not average or the number of times one visits the petrol pump is it ?

take for instance a bike in the litre class.. and we shall compare it to a car in the same segment..
SBk have a very high , mind blowing power to weight ratio...
