Is it worth all that money for a bike , maybe ......But when i was a little kid(i am still not that much big) i always dreamed about having a SBK and the first bike that would come to my mind would be a R1 and it still does ,
so for ME is it worth all the money ? i would say every penny is worth spending on it.........

i highly doubt the booking amount is 50% as i read they were giving a max. loan of 70% of the bike's ex showroom price.

the catch is i am gettig a very good deal on a 954rr with the custom authorities but the problem being it does not have a key...that's wat it's all about
also about the US spec thing; it's having something like RE2134 on the plates so not quite sure of the origin of the bike
Well, if the bike has a H.I.S.S. system, it will have the same written on the ignition barrel and probably a small decal of the same on the tank too.
If it does, you can always get the ECU Stewarch mentioned, if it doesnt have H.I.S.S. all you need to do is have your local locksmith cut a key for you, or order an O.E.M. brand new complete lock set for 89.99 USD which comes loaded with two keys, ignition loc, tank lock and rear seat lock.

you can find out about the bike by it's VIN(vehicle identification number).

Why do they rob us folks in india , i mean the r1 is available in U.S for 6.5 lakh Rs approx.
i understand there is duty and everything but the price of 14.5 lakh is not justified.....

now i have to seriously consider a gixxer or busa.......

2008 R1's on-road price was 11.3L earlier before they decided to charge a premium(daylight robbery).

1)The MT01 is no longer available in Yam showrooms and the sexy V-Max shall replace it with a cool on-road tag of 22.7 lacs.
    2) The 08 R1 has been replaced the 2010 version of the R1 stickered at 14.2 lacs with only the Blue and Raven color options in India...
Bookings are currently open for both these beasts, but will be delivered upon booking from Jan 2010 onwards....

PS: the prices above are the onroad prices in Bangalore
The R1 is available in white too. A couple of friends have booked it, costing them around 14.5 IIRC.

The MT-01 is on its way to achieving a cult status? May be I should demand a higher price for mine But seriously, we now have only I-4s (yeah the VMax is a V4 but same thing). No more twins except the Ducatis, and when the Hardlys roll in.

Well, duplicating a key from an already working one should not be a task, but I'm quite uncertain about the kind of support the authorised service centers would offer for a motorcycle no bought from a local Honda dealership.
In my case, I had lost the only key to my bike which left me with hardly any choices. I was fortunate to find an ECU-Chip pair for the 954 at my mech who made me two new orginial keys cut to my ignition, and the H.I.S.S. works perfectly.
