i have this beast which my dad bought with his first earning...and yea it is a CKD version...my bike was from the first lot which was bought from japan. i really love this...mad for....in love wid it...and now i also own a fazer150..but RX is the best bike .

Hunt of a legend

I am too hunting for an rx100 or even rx135 from last 2 years.found 2-3 but none of them suits me because i want a fully stock bike whose engine is untouched and had not run more than 45k kms.doesn't matter the indicators and other lights are broken or seat is torn but the bike should be stock and have real rx100 power for which it is known.guys if u want to sell such bike or know any seller for the same in lucknow or near by areas please inform me here or e-mail me.guys it will be a great help for a rx maniac.thanks in advance.

It was nice to read your tryst with the Yamaha RX 100, I think even I should share my experience with this truly amazing machine.

It all started way back on 14th October 1989, when my uncle bought himself a brand new Yamaha RX100 (MH 03 A 5444); before that day my grandfather was very reluctant on purchasing the motorcycle. My uncle somehow managed to convince my grandfather and he got the bike after being on a hunger-strike for a week!!! My family members still tell me (or rather its just me ) that I was just waiting for the bike to arrive, and voila I was born the very next day 15 October 1989 . Both my uncles used to take me on rides within the colony; most of the people from my colony, even today, remember me riding on the tank of my uncle's RX .

I was very fond of two wheelers (and even 3 wheelers ) since childhood, i rode my cycle like a complete maniac everyone used to complain about my riding , but nobody could keep me away from 2 wheels. I was hardly 5/6 years old when my uncle started to teach me to ride a motorcycle (RX 100), he first gave me the control of the accelerator, then came the handlebar, then as I grew a little bigger maybe 7/8 years old, I was given control of the gear as well. I was about 9 years old when I could ride the motorcycle all by myself except that my legs wouldn't touch the ground , for that I used to have either of my uncle sit behind me. People on the roads would really be awestruck seeing me ride a motorcycle.

My father also liked to ride the bike very much, he would take me on long rides during weekends. I used to wear a mini helmet which just consisted of a visor just so that I could see the bike touching 100 kmph without getting my eyes watery . But sadly my uncle sold that bike in exchange for a 1979 Bullet 350 . I still keep pestering him as to why he did so, but as usual by the age of 14 I was able to ride a Bullet 350 with my uncle as pillion because my legs still wouldn't touch the ground and on top of that the bike was heavy.

I currently own a Yamaha R15V2 because I always felt that my first bike should be a Yamaha , I do occasionally ride my uncle's 1979 Bullet 350 and as of now I am on the lookout for a Yamaha 2 stroke, but as you guys know good 2 strokes are hard to come by, and even if they do the prices are astronomical. Hoping to get back on a Yamaha 2 stroke as soon as possible, until then have fun with your 2 Smokers

Basically this is my first bike ride. Actual the first two wheeler I owned was a TVS 50. My friend`s brother had this bike. One day, I told to him that I wanted to ride the bike. He took me to a dead end road to drive the bike. As soon as I engaged the first gear, and released the clutch(I didn't know it had half clutch), I was seeing the sky! My friend immediately falled upon me to keep the weight in the front(He told me to put second gear immediately). After engaging the second gear, still it had that neck breaking acceleration. I immediately loved this bike. When I was about to buy a bike in 2002, I asked my parents to get me a RXG135. But my mom said that the bike`s name is not good(she referred Yamaha to "YAMA"ha) and she will never get this bike for me. I didn't quarrel with my parents and went for a TVS Victor

After years of riding various two wheelers and seeing how the RX100 is a god among 2 wheelers, I regret not getting this bike!!

I own an RX135 4S (with chrome silencer). I wanted to know the difference between RX100 and 135 4S (let's not bring 5S into picture).

My friend owns a completely rebuilt RX100. I rode both the bikes back to back during a weekend trip and all I could find was that the power output is slightly higher in RX135 due to engine size, sprocket difference, different gear ratios and YEIS. Inspite of these enhancements to increase the power, the mileage in a stock RX135 is slightly better than a stock RX100. The only thing i find missing is that the RX100's crisp exhaust note is not present in RX135.

But when people start hunting for a second hand RX, why do they always prefer RX100 to RX135? I have been going through some threads in xbhp as well and I see that many xbhp members suggest RX100. Is there any specific reason why RX100 is more popular than RX135? Or is it just a myth?

You have mentioned most of the answers, one thing I would like to add is 135 4 S gives the best mileage of all.
Other than that the difference technically is parts.
One of the reason is many people are ignorant about 135.
Other reason is availability of spares, 100 had been there for a long time and there are lot I them still running, so availability of spares is better. The crisp exhaust note of 100 is unique.

Thanks for the information, rxdude. I was always having this question in my mind as to why RX100 is more popular than 135. Now, it seems to me that people have been exposed more to RX100 during the strong 2-stroke era and that led to it's popularity. I think the bigger 150cc 4-stroke engines got introduced in late 90's and thus RX135 was not much appreciated then. As a matter of fact, now people who own/owned bigger bikes are going for RX100/135 realizing it's value and sheer power.
