I would really like to know what type of changes you want in a classic as to make my classic better...Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostWhen the official pictures of T'Bird 500 first came out early 2012, no doubt it got my attention because of the better things it has. But as with some members here, I am not a fan of T'Bird styling. So, I wrote an email to Royal Enfield appreciating them for the good things they put on upcoming T'Bird and also asked them if these changes can be expected for the Classic models. I wrote that since all these changes are going to make that motorcycle more safer and better to ride, it's only obvious that these changes should be made to Classics as well (if not all models). However, I got a reply saying (not surprisingly though) that RE don't have any plans to incorporate these changes in Classic models and that they are going to remain same.
From the reply I concluded that even if RE is going to make such updates in Classic models in future, they will not just let me know about it. Obviously, they would not want to loose customers for their current classic models if they break the news of updated classics in future. So I just replied with a "Thank you"
But obviously, RE should make these updates to Classics as well.
@deejay: Not just that, T'Bird 500 also happens to have better front end suspension with 41mm forks
The cons I could find are
1. Tyres are slippery and breaking at high speed of 60-70 may cause the bike to slip..
2. The seats leather started wearing off fromm day 1 itself so had to get seat covers in 600 rs.
3. This problem maybe only with my bike but its getting off when I start it even if its in nuteral... sometimes with a sound coming fropm engine halting suddenly.. and sometimes when I try leave the throttle it gets off... the problem was solved by service centre by tightning the RPM screw but it has came back after the service.. would have to contact the RE guys again

I would love to see all the updates made to T'Bird 500 into the Classcis (atleast). These include the new 41mm front suspension, rear disc break with the new swing-arm and ofcourse the projector headlight. Regarding engine and its performance, I wouldn't really complain; however, I would like it to become a smoother mill than it is now so that speeds like 110-120kmph are not pain to maintain. Even though CL500 has a true top speed hovering around 130kmph, I believe the new UCE engine with 500cc and 27bhp on tap should be at ease at speeds of around 120kmph.
The front suspension really needs improvement. Bullets are pretty heavy motorcycles and the current front forks are just aren't good enough. Under heavy/emergency breaking it doesn't really inspire confidence and the feedback is not positive either. Dont know about T'Bird, but other bullets are front heavy motorcycles. I own a 2006 model Electra 5S. Since new models share the same chassis and suspension, I believe they are front heavy as well. And they are very much front heavy. I have noticed that even after the front wheel is removed (which should logically make the front lighter until the wheel is put back), the motorcycle still swings down towards the front! So the front suspension definitely demands a change and I would like to believe that the new 41mm forks in T'Bird 500 should perform better overall and especially under heavy breaking.
I cannot comment on your third point. But as you said, you should definitely take it to the service center again. The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Hey Rahul ....
saw your pm just now.
Guys i can say only one thing here is that Thunderbird 500 is no different bike than the bullet 500. the same engine, same tyre, same bhp.
The difference is the rear brakes and some cosmetic changes.
They have put a lot of the word 'RE' on the bike. you can find it almost everywhere.
About the sound, it sounds the same as a bullet 500. People who are saying that it sounds amazing and all, may have never ridden the old bullets.
The bike is good, but i think its really a waste of money. I dont believe that it should cost 2 lacs.
Thats what i did not like in the bike. the price.
And the rest its a bullet at last.______________________________________________________________
