I can understand your feelings, as I saw NS for first time on Friday eve one can never understand how SLOW that Saturday, Sunday, and Monday till noon gone..!

1 : I haven't said that WP , FI , etc is rocket science I just stated my preferances.Read before replying to any post.There are other bikes in the world as well apart from your Duke.

2 : A modified bike is an exclusive bike among all the bikes ! Set aside your ego goggles & accept this fact.

3 : I didn't felt the fun in the duke.Maybe my threshold of having fun is way above yours...and If I can have the "fun" on the P 200 NS and not in the Duke , that's not your problem is it ?

4 : I did not comment on Duke's road presence.I said I don't like the way it looks...there is a difference between both the statements. + I am not a poser , I buy a bike solely for myself.

it IS in the stockyard of osl bajaj for a long time now but they are simply denying the fact and not putting it for display... They are not allowing anybody to see the bikes and only a few mechanins can go inside... A mechanic i know who works in osl himself confirmed that the manager takes away their cell phones before they are given access... Right now they are under training over there.... Osl is a very arrogant dealer...actually as a matter of fact the owner of osl haven't opened the showroom to earn profits and income... Its just for increasing property count and convert black money into white money....they dont even care if they loose customer. Not at all bothered about customers.... :/

Replies in bold. Your 12th and 13th points are the only influencing reasons it seems. It also seems that you look forward to heavily modifying your motorcycle in future. Good luck with that!

None of the dealers have it. It now seems we can see them only after the Independence day!!

ns must have reached kolkata by now .. check out the stock yard of the biggest showroom.. even in bangalore the bikes had arrived 4 days before the launch ..

IMO braking is not about stopping in the shortest possible distance in least time... Its more about HOW you stop, how it behaves under different scenarios and the amount of feedback, confidence and control you have over the brake... Got to try ns but damn no bikes in kolkata

ns brakes are good...but no way they are better than that of ninja & duke...
only thing is duke's rear disc are really sharp...you need to get hang of it...

1. Ns outperforming a ninja 250? Joke of the milennium... Ninja 250 has the best brakes among every bike till 650cc...the brakes bite like there is no tomorrow..incredible anchors...
2. Cbr150 brakes outperforming r15 brakes? Another joke
3. Where is the rtr brakes? The rtr brakes are even better than the one on cbr

IMO the braking qualities goes like this..:
1. Ninja
2. Duke
3. R15
4. Rtr
5. Cbr150
The cbr250 dont even deserve to be in the list to be honest... I just kept the ns out coz i haven't ridden it...but will never belive i outclasses a ninja and duke...

The P200 NS Vs The KTM Duke 200 dilemma ! My Take !

First of all I want everyone to know that I DID HAD a budget of 1.4 lacs for my new bike !! So its not like I didn't had the "bling" to buy the Duke.

But still , I chose the P 200 NS for myself over the Duke 200 for the following reasons :

1 : The most prominent factor is the riding position of the P 200 NS. For me ( 5'11") the P 200 NS' riding position was spot on ; it was way more confidence inspiring & comfortable than the Duke 200 ( for me* ). I think there is no point in buying a bike that does not invoke confidence in its rider ( differs from person to person* ).

2 : I am not a big fan of Duke's minimalistic rear end.Not because it would be uncomfortable for the pillion (I rarely have any pillion along*) but because I don't like the way it looks.

3 : I wanted a bike that serves the purpose I want it to fulfil, irrespective of whether it does that by using rocket science or by using a lever.So the bits like WP forks, FI , trellis frame,etc doesn't impress me that much.

4 : The potential to upgrade my bike is one of the factors I always look for , I mean when I am looking to buy a bike for myself I also look at the places where I can improve it & make it super exclusive by modifying it.Irrespective of whether I am buying a 1000cc bike or a 200cc one.And the P 200 NS' list was definitely lengthy & tempting than the Duke.

5 : The instrument console of the Duke is way too small for me.Also , I prefer an analog tachometer instead of a digital one.

6 : The test ride. The test ride of the P 200 NS was more fun than the Duke 200 ( again , for me* ).I didn't felt any "neck breaking" acceleration on the Duke. ( Or maybe I'm more rigid )

7 : The exhaust note (subjective**): The P 200 NS' exhaust note is MUCH MUCH better than the Duke's !!

8 : I felt vibrations on the Duke 200 @ around 3-5k rpm in contrast with the P 200 NS.

9 : Looks : The looks of the Duke were not so tempting to me.

10 : 40k cheaper !! I can do a lot of after-market things to the P 200 NS by spending a little over 20k & make it faster,quicker & better in performance & aesthetic appeal than a stock Duke 200.

11 : Better highway capabilities : This is something which I have not yet tested personally , but going by what is said in most of the reviews, P 200 NS seems a better option over Duke for highway ( or long ) rides.

12 : I always wanted to buy a Pulsar since the UG III was launched. ( I was in 11th std then. ) Here, the fan inside me is influencing my decision to a certain extent.

13 : I always try to buy an indigenous product as in my opinion it is very important to support what the local body is trying to accomplish with all its capabilities. And those people who talk crap about Bajaj , I have only one thing to say to them : if Bajaj would not have been ambitious enough to launch 180 cc , 200 cc ,220 cc bikes in India within the past decade...we might still be waiting for a proper bike from the international brands like Yamaha,Honda,Kawasaki,KTM...its the no. of sales & demand that the Bajaj franchisee saw & ( at the same time ) generated in the premium bike segment that gave enough PUSH to the international contenders like the Yamaha to launch the R15 in the first place or else we might still be witnessing an upgraded version of the Libero !!!...so even if you are riding an R15 or the Duke or the CBR 250R , a fraction of that is contributed by Bajaj whether you like it or not...

Verdict :: Just take a test ride of both the bikes , decide what you want , & then pick your next ride just like I did.

My red P 200 NS will be delivered hopefully after around 5-6 days @ 97k On-road Ahmedabad.

PS : This post is NOT even remotely intended to hurt anyone's feelings.

Phew !! That took almost an hour !!

P220's torque kick is to do more with the way it feels rather than stats. If you were to just look at stats 200NS will easily outgun 220 till 100kmph or 120kmph. But, yeah 220 will eventually reach to a higher top speed!

The 0-60, 0-100 numbers provided in xbhp reveiw were given by Bajaj!

i am sure that they would have made multiple runs with both bikes and recorded the best figures achieved ..i have heard many people say that p220 provides more torque kick than ns ..the diff also comes with fi vs carb and dohc vs sohc in duke vs ns ..

great then .. i never knew it .. i am in love with my speedo console now ..it actually displays a lot of text with numbers and graphs .. what a treat ...
ktm is better than cbr in 0-60 and 0-100 .. refer to xbhp duke review for a graphical representation ..

Read August Autocar but the differnce between NS and Duke's 0-100 is completely undigestable. Looks like they forgot to rev NS

Read July's Bike India, they tested (multiple times back to back) all the premium bikes of India (NS, CBR150R, CBR250R, R15V2, DUKE200, NINJA 250R, RTR180)

In Acceleration Ninja 250R topped the list in 0-100 with around 7.58s, then CBR250R around 8s.
The differnce between Duke and NS was Duke was around 1.4s faster

But in braking NS proved to be best bike in India (in their test atleast) outclassing all the other mentioned bikes even Ninja 250R. CBR150R was very close second. R15 lagged. CBR150R outperformed R15 in both acceleration (almost 0.8s) and even in braking.

Actually none from the Duke family of the KTM has this kind of console except the 125cc and 200cc.

Only the KTM RC8R and Duke 200 and 125 variants have this kind of console in the KTM family.

Now the RC8R is a Superbike, so might have to log few more stats on the digi console than our regular street bikes, so the data displayed is varying on the different consoles.
