Krishna - From my experience, I even had a broken frame of my Rx, but I got it replaced; I'd experienced 2-3 engine seizures, I got them replaced; I had a kaput front disc brakes, I replaced with razor sharp front discs. All the replacement took time over the years, but now I've a perfect looking & riding Rx. I cannot say the same with my body; I'd a fall Jun 2012, in the course of treating the dislocated right shoulder, Doctor discovered my bones in neck are eroding; there's no replacement or lubing available; only thing being they can minimize the erosion. Hope you got the point

Krishna, its nice to see your concern for your ride.
Its true we call our bikes a SHE, its true we love them so much that our wives/GFs start getting inferiority complex; but that's it. Maintaining your ride in top notch showroom condition is really very good, dying for your bike is not!
There's a person here (on the forum) who replaced the front cowl/fairing on his CBR 250R because it got scratches from a fall. That was not an accident on road, maybe the bike tipped over while washing/parking. That is love, and I admire that member. But he isn't going to protect his bike from an oncoming bus if there isn't enough time; I can guarantee you that.
Its for your own good that Prince/RG/Somen are explaining you from their experience.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

The scariest moment I had, was last year in June. I was going from Delhi to Chandigarh and had crossed Sonepat, the smooth highway got me cruising at triple digits. A honda crv was moving on the extreme right lane probably 10-15 kmph quicker than me. But the traffic caused the CRV to slow down and on couple of occasions I overtook it then he again caught up with me and overtook me whenever the traffic reduced. Keep in mind, it was done pretty safely, nothing rash happened upto this point. As we neared Panipat, I saw the CRV slowing down a little as a huge truck/trailer(those with 18/20 wheels) was moving ahead of it(comparitively very slowly 60-70kmph). I thought that the CRV guy was probably slowing down as it didnt have space enough to overtake the truck from the right, I overtook the CRV from the left (well its wrong but i was in the middle lane almost next to the CRV so I moved to the right lane not really overtaking it, more like changing the lane) and as I was moving to the extreme right the lane to overtake the truck, the CRV guy started to honk madly, which I totally didnt understand as he was slowing down himself and i moved to the extreme right to the side of the huge truck ignoring his honking(anyways this all happened within a second), the moment I came to the right side of the truck I see a row of cars lined up and moving on the wrong side of the road coming towards me at a good speed, (probably the reason why the CRV slowed down and started honking madly when I came to the right), I was 100+ myself, before i could turn to the left again or slow down I was in between the truck and the divider with the row of cars coming at me, i braked for a split second to move slightly to the left and accelerated, but by this time the innova on the wrong side was already at the front wheels of the truck, the bike wobbled because of my gimmicks under the panic situation, I somehow managed to keep it upright, two cars one innova and i frankly dont remember which the second was, crossed me with their RVMs almost brushing my right clipon. I have absolutely no idea how didnt I get crushed between them. My heart, my kidneys, the lower intestine and my balls were all in my mouth. I crossed the truck moved to the left lane and slowed down , the CRV guy went past me shaking his head in disbelief/anger/pity, I raised my hand to apologize, thanked God and rode back home at very sane speeds.sigpic

That was a wrong move as a result of impatience or something. Its always better to follow a car which when you know was doing high speeds is gonna overtake the heavy vehicle, rather than overtaking him and then the heavy vehicle in a zig-zag manner.Thank God that you're safe now and I hope you learned the lesson.1). Its India.2). You're the most vulnerable identity on a highway with a two-wheeler. Always try to maintain straight line motion.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View PostThe scariest moment I had, was last year in June. If you are fast.. You can never maintain straight line motion.. you can only maintain when you are riding/driving at the same speed as that of traffic around you...Originally posted by sunny_ View PostThat was a wrong move as a result of impatience or something. I would strongly recommend taking a quick glimpse of the traffic ahead of the vehicle you want to overtake. Never overtake when you dont know whats ahead!
Though my posts are getting too long here on this thread.. but i want to inform you guys, that even this can happen(thats the purpose of the thread I think)
1) I was coming back from Lucknow 3.5-4 years back. Speed at ~120 km/hr. A truck was going ahead in the left lane. As I was coming close to it It started moving towards right.. blocking my overtake. Two options were there for me - Brake or overtake from left. I chose overtaking from left. To my utter surprise a bamboo laden open tractor was coming from opposite side. I rammed the brake. With the braking power.. my sis sitting in the back seat came to the front seat!! We all were safe. But I didnt learned anything from this accident(how stupid of me, really).. Never overtake when someone ahead is changing lane or you cant see why he is doing it.
2) Last year, I was riding my fazer fast to office.. New bike.. Fully thrilled.. A bus changing lane. I again accelerated hard and overtook it from left!! Thinking there would be some space for a 'bike' to squeeze in. But, No space and a stationary bus standing right in front of me. I pressed the brake with full force. Bike's rear wobbling (As the bike is accelerating and I am pressing the brakes) I found some off road space at the last moment. Hit the vehicle by my right shoulder, but still managing to steer left. Didnt fall.. skidded at some 40-50 km/hr speed.. Was back on road. Picked up speed again(as if nothing happened). After coming to office felt the pain of the impact.. which kept lingering for some 5-6 days.
Would reiterate - Never overtake when you dont know whats ahead! Its a very basic thing, which stupid guys like me completely neglected. Not now!

I want to share a incident though absolutely OT, but I want to tell this to as many people as possible for awareness.
That was a night some 2 months back I guess, I was leaving from office to home by train. It’s a super fast the one to Madurai from Egmore. I have a “super fast train” pass with me for daily commute to office in case I am not taking my bike. I can travel in unreserved compartments only. That night all the unreserved compartments were fully packed by people. Two fellows were standing outside the train on platform till the compartment got stuffed by people in Egmore. When the train started to move they clinged to the train at the door steps shouting at people to get inside. Later they managed to sit on the way near the door.(They wantedly sit there for a thrill). Both put their legs down on the steps, one put his legs carefully over the first step, the other IDIOT put his legs over the second step. Don’t think they are rogues/ drunk mads, no, they looked decent enough. Train started and picked up speed in sometime. After some three stations passed, “AMMAAAAAA, IYOOOOOOOOO…” weird noise..I know you would have guessed what had happened. Yes his one leg got thrashed by the oncoming concrete platform..HOLY SHIT. This fu**er’s leg gone in few secs. I was standing right behind them (my goose bumps now). Peeped to see him, still his leg part below the knee stuck under the platform…. Shoes thrown off, socks tore off, he slowly pulled his leg up, you know what I saw ?, blood gushing out of his leg, half cut leg. I wished I was not there. BLOODY FOOL, what he is gonna tell his mother about his leg when she asks? How can his mother see him like this ? all those thoughts were running through my mind, while he was laid on the way amidst the pool of blood. The other fellow hit his own heads, cursing, abusing the victim. He said “I told you son of a b***h to take your legs up, now see what happened?”. And he started shouting at the crowd for not giving them space at first. I don’t know all of a sudden there was huge space, all those fagg**s sitting on the way stood up and watch the scenes now. Unfortunately his mobile phone went dead, he asked to pull the chain and stop the train, but some wise people asked not to do that since it will make the situation worse. The next stop was at Tambaram only, some 25 kms from Egmore. This guy was moaning, screaming…”AMMA, AMMA, IYO…”. Someone helped him with a mobile, he called his friends (fortunately they were travelling in same train but different compartments. He was shouting, “Machan, F**K he (telling his name) lost his legs, get down at Tambaram”. Tears were pouring from his eyes. Oh man, that was one hell of a night I wished never to see. Immediately once the train stopped, he was lifted by his friends and laid on the bench. Someone asked them to rush to the nearby hospital, there was a RPF officer came to rescue them.
I didn’t stand there for a min, rushed home.
So, YES THIS IS OT. I agree. But the bottom line is, whenever & wherever & however you get the feeling of thrilled, always keep your eyes open and brain working to see the danger ready to blow you. Bikers are vulnerable to succumb for such thrills. We dont go cowards, brave is in our blood anyday, we dont need to show that by shedding the same.Last edited by krishnab4u; 09-28-2012, 10:05 PM.

Are only biking experience permitted? If not pls report & remove this post...
Happened in 2007 Jan when driving Ford Mustang from Troy, MI to Detroit downtown; the speed limit was 70 & I was cruising in 75 & there was these 2 huge 18 wheelers on the middle lane; in the intent of overtaking them, I moved to left lane (speed lane) & increased the speed to 90 (thought it was fun to increase through cruise control than gas pedal). Half way through, one of the 18 wheeler decided to overtake the other 18 wheeler & severed to left most lane without bothering my car (may be thought he could push me out).
I was just few millimeter away from the truck & instead of reacting, I started staring the truck as how he's severing towards me; those were brief moments & can't forget that scene ever in my life; a black huge truck with big bolts on big wheels running towards me as I watch through the glass window, don't ask me how, but, that few seconds, my Mother's, Wife's & Son's faces flashed right in front of me; somehow I pulled towards the shoulder & pedaled even faster; thanks to the Indian driving skills!!! Had it been India, I would've never failed to give him some worship on words!!!
Had it not been Mustang, a parked car on the shoulder or a little more ice on the road that day, I wouldn't have even registered in xBhp, forget alone sharing this incident!!!
PS - Convert all the above numbers to MPH instead of KMPH

I see the picture how i could have been. Even our country lorry tires when they go puncture or burst can cause fatal at times in close distance. They are capable.Originally posted by aargee View Posta black huge truck with big bolts on big wheels running towards me as I watch through the glass window,

I have the exact same experience on the exact same train, but I was travelling from Trichy to Chennai in unreserved. Me and another guy (stranger, Who happened to be a Medical student) shared a door and had our foot on the steps. It was a great experience until we reached Perungalatur station (One before Tambaram) where our train was to take the platform used by electric trains and since electric trains do not have steps the platforms were too high. By the time we reached there, my foot was on the 1st step and his was on the second coz he was around 6.2 ft and me at 5.10. Just a split second the compartment was filled with his fresh blood. I was literally about to faint on seeing it, got some clothes from a nearby bag and tried to coverup the wound (Luckily it was just a fracture), took him to the Hindu mission hospital and admitted there, called up his parents and left there once everything was under control.
Just about later that day I understood that collection of experience is called Life and we ought be giving some justification to the experience earned. So pls be more resposible, coz I hope there is someone behind you expecting your arrival.

One more incidence I remember. I was coming home in my bike (victor GX). Near Chrompet traffic stopped for the red signal (Samsung showroom). I think many of the local people might have heard about this. There was a Eicher van coming very fast from opp direction took a u turn to his right at the signal post when the signal had already changed to green. The van hit a bike FZ16 with 2 guys in it, there is no fault with the biker. Two guys were thrown away from bike luckily they didn't fall to Van side. They would have been smacked on road. Very soon, crowd captured van surrounding it. The bike was still got stuck between the road and fuel tank of the van. Unmindful of the accident and crowd that crazy beggar moved his van and even accelerated. That was a moment I really doubted whether it is some movie shooting. The bike was dragged by the Van till some 3/4 kms. Fire sparkles, noise , crowd scream..that damn driver seem to take care of nothing. Soon some auto drivers chased him. Seeing this, he stopped the van before a flyover and fled away.
See how crazy, merciless people are. When the van hit the bike, I was very close to it.

Who said that? If you're fast and you're not driving straight line then you're driving rash.Originally posted by muztariq View PostIf you are fast.. You can never maintain straight line motion.. you can only maintain when you are riding/driving at the same speed as that of traffic around you...
