BUt it should optimise the responce right ? (i.e eliminate the differences if you're coming from chennai to bangalore)

btw isn't O2 sensor specfic to the R15's ECU ? and does the R15's ECU have the ability to accept an O2 sensor and actually use the values it gets ?

p.s have you installed an O2 sensor ?

Yes, the O2 sensor will have to be installed (lucky if you find one) and the fuel injection will have to adjusted accordingly, that too if you have a AFR meter. If you do not have that, keep running the bike to get the desired results.

Well, I get the idea! Thanks to Joel.

Here's another question....what if one works on the engine and needs more fuel flow than what the injectors can handle...?? are there aftermarkets injectors that match the requirements of an R15..?? and also what mods can be done to an R15..??

PS: im just curious and I dont own an R15..!!

You will find most of the stuffs available in the aftermarket but compatibility with R15 will be a question. That you'll have to see.
Injectors are just a small part of the whole mod. Many other things come into play.

the stock injector in itself can flow and lot. You wont hit that brick wall so soon.

Looks like there is some serious misunderstanding here.

You can use an AFR meter to manually set the AFR on the R15, however the R15 has no O2 sensor so the AFR meter being used will need its own O2 sensor. This is what yamaha uses to tune the AFR on the R15, its a hand held unit with sensors that are attached to the bike which then provide inputs to help tune the AFR. The tuning is manual and once set, it remains that way regardless of the conditions until the bike is again tuned 'manually'. Hope this part is clear.

The R15 uses a basic 'Alpha-N' type fuel injection system which operates on inputs from sensors monitoring engine rpm and throttle position. A MAP sensor is also used in such a system to monitor altitude changes. These are the ONLY sensors the R15 ECU is capable of understanding. You cannot use an O2 sensor with such a system without changing the entire fuel injection system itself.

So can you fit a O2 sensor on the R15 which will then work with the existing ECU and automatically manage AFR on the fly? The answer is NO

Can you fit a O2 sensor on the R15 which you will then use in conjuction with an external AFR meter to manually set the AFR? the answer is YES

Where can you find an AFR meter that can be used to tune the R15 ECU? - Yamaha

              hope this is clear

Santoosh has got his AFR ratio tuned. The only difference will be in mileage. Absolutely no difference in performance et al!

Well that depends on what the AFR was set for. It has to be rightly set with a CO machine. No point in blindly changing the AFR. You need a Dyno(to get the best results), a CO machine(instead of an AFR meter) and the Yamaha provided AFR device to get the right settings.
If you simply alter the mixture by just making it a bit rich, the bike will sure not perform at its best.

Santa bike was tuned in Pacer, so all the equipments you mentioned were there

Agreed, but I bet it was NOT tuned on the dyno nor was a CO machine used. For dyno runs be prepared to shell Rs 500 every run. And FYI setting up the bike will need atleast 2-4 runs.

I would still like to know the performance gain. @Killer: What say ?
