Instead of sharing info via pm's it would be great if you could share as many details as possible with all of us out here, m pretty sure everyone here is curious with regards to the entire process

Could you throw some light on the procedure?
Any explanation given by the store?
Or for that matter anything else that you noticed of relevance while you were there.

Are these type of things not availeble in Delhi and If I am not wrong there is no harm in getting decarbonised even after 20 - 25 k at odo.

Re: Engine Decarbonization using Natural Gas!

High octane gas is injected while the bike is on idle. After 30 mins, carbon is cleared and your ready to go.

That's all there is to it.

Err... Just out of curiosity, has anybody done compression tests on their bike before and after the procedure? Would like to know the results. Somebody?

thanks dude, hmm.. I wonder if any service centre provides this... maybe I should get them do a compression test on my car and then do Decarbonization...

All authorized service centers do this test. It is just that you need to know the actual compression readings of your bike/car with which you can compare the readings and arrive at a conclusion. The factory compression reading will be under technical specifications of your owner's manual. On a car you predominantly do an engine flush/de-carbonization once in every 15,000kms. If the car is beyond 30,000kms with irregular oil changes, sludge/carbon build-up would have already started and it would naturally seal the rings which retains the trivial compression lose.

When you do an de-carbonization/flush, these seals gets flushed off and eventually lose compression. Above all the loose sludge might clog the the oil flow and vary the oil pressure internal. Phew! I hope I've jotted down too much .

                      Good day mate!

Exactly! The learning is to say "yes" or "no" to the solutions and alternatives offered by the mechanics at the right moment or rather instruct the mechanics on what to be done.
And yes service centers are bred to be that way. They are just banking on the majority of population who are still illiterate and ignorant when it comes to taking care of their rides.

To keep things simple, De-carbonization (removing excessive carbon deposits) and Engine flush (removing contaminants from old oil and sludge build up) is done as a preventive maintenance that could be done once in every 15,000kms or 20,000kms apart from following regular oil change intervals. When this practice is not adhered to, symptoms of bad engine starts showing up and I guess you know what they are? In such situations a decarb or flush would not help. The only solution would be to open up the head and rework.

However, if oil is changed a little earlier than regular change intervals, that itself would clean the engine to satisfactory levels. You can check the wet and dry compression readings and compare it with your factory readings. If it is already low, then doing a decarb/flush will further bring down the compression and thereby loss in power.

The compression check procedure hardly takes about 15minutes or at the maximum 30mins. The service centers might do it FOC if you are a regular customer or let them know that you feel there might be a loss in compression. All you need is a compression gauge.

                                BTW... why ANNA suddenly thambi
