I agree brother. Staff working at Honda and RE behave like they are doing us a great favour by giving us info about their bikes. They think that the customer knows nothing and anything they say will be believed without asking questions. And if by chance there is something wrong with the bike, they will find the customer's fault in it, even if it was a manufacturing defect.

One of my family friends went to Honda service center to get their 2 year old Dio serviced. The mechanic was so irresponsible, he drained the engine oil, went for lunch break, came back, polished up the bike and gave back without filling new engine oil. Engine seized within 10 kms. Now they are not willing to admit their fault.

Now coming to your query about choosing Fz 2.0 or RTR.

FZ 2.0 - Pros : Yamaha reliability, super smooth engine, a bit more mileage than RTR, good service centers, Closed loop fuel injection system, perfect handling bike for city, light and nimble.

Cons : Under powered (only 13bhp), Yamaha parts are expensive(if bike crashes, if will be heavy on pocket), regular service a bit expensive than RTR.

RTR - Pros : Powerful, lightweight, cheap spare parts, service will cost a bit less than Fz, fun to zip around the city, ABS.

Cons : Vibrates at high speed, you have seen the authorized staff yourself.
    Choose wisely. All the best.

So i went to the showroom with my dad on 9 march 2014. I asked the receptionist about the R15, she called the assistant manager to give me info about the bike. I was a fan of R15 and knew every detail of the bike, so I just asked him that I wanted the bike in blue, which was replaced a year back with white and blue(moto gp edition). He very politely asked me just to
look at the colors available with them. I refused, and said I will buy a blue one or not buy at all. So he called the manager and told him about the matter.

The manager said -"So build him a blue colored one. whats the problem."

Manager told me that if I book the bike today he will open up all the panels of a new bike and fit in blue colored panels in place. He checked the inventory and said -"we have have most of the body kit with us (headlight assembly, fuel tank, front fairing etc). If any part is not available, we will order it and build you a blue bike. He asked for 5000 Rupees booking amount and 10 days time. My dad agreed. We paid the sum and went home happily.

2 days later I got a call from the manager - "Sir your bike parts have arrived and we are starting to build your bike, you can come and check". I was at office so I asked my dad to go check it out. Dad went to the showroom, the manager asked him to choose the R15 he want to buy, dad choose one of the lot and the mechanic stared stripping it. Dad went back to his office and came back to check in the evening, the bike was almost complete(only tail panel was left). But dad said its not looking good in blue.

Surprise again, manager said -"sir let it get completed, still if you dont like it, we will refund the booking amount.
      "
So now I was tensed, dad said get a black one, its looks more decent. I was hell bent on blue. So next morning dad again went to the showroom, now my bike was complete. The manager told his men to line up all the colors in the middle of the showroom (All the standard colors and my blue one), and asked my dad to take his time, and choose any one, and if he still didnt like any of them he will return the booking amount. Finally dad chose the blue one and called me and said - "Come to the showroom after office, we will take the blue one." So I happily got the blue colored R15.

Talk about customer satisfaction. The Yamaha guys build me a special edition bike of my choice in 2 days. Hats Off.
I couldn't believe it when I read it. Really, hats off to the Yamaha team. Btw, fellow Yamaha R15 Version 2 rider here. And yes, there service is indeed appreciable.

Yes brother, the thing is that dealer is the largest one in our state, he has a very large ware house, every week thousands of Yamaha bikes arrive at his warehouse from Delhi, and then they are transported to other dealers and showrooms all across the state from his warehouse. So it was very easy for him to get the blue colored body kit, as they are kept in the inventory. He had to hunt for the front mudguard only, So he contacted Roorkee, Haridwar and Rishikesh, and found one in blue in one of the showrooms in Haridwar, which is 70 kms away, So it was transported the very next day. and my bike was ready on third day of booking.

The manager was very friendly and helpful. He knew if we didnt take the bike, he can transport to any dealer in the state, there are many people who want the old blue color. So he was not worried at all about us not taking the bike after ordering. He didnt even charge anything for all the extra work he had to do.

          Wrong at both points brother.
Regular servicing is nominal and we just pay for the oil and oil filter. Other things like air filter, cables etc are all very cheap. In no way expensive.
As for accidental damage, i found the parts not that expensive. The rates are genuine and will not be too harsh compared to some other companies.

Well not the thread to discuss this. Thought i should reply as i had read the same thing in a couple of other threads also.

          Ride safe and have fun.

yes you may be correct bro, I am a new owner of R15(just 5 months), and I had a splendor for last 6 years, and it was very very cheap to service, engine oil cost only 250 bucks and now I pay 550 for R15, The paid service hardly cost 650Rs and now Free service for R15 cost about 1000 Rs, so comparatively I find it a bit expensive than what I used to pay. Thats why I said a bit expensive. But yes splendor cannot be compared to R15, in terms of sports bikes, it is fairly cheap.

Re: TVS Showroom 1st and last visit

I am not trying to demean or glorify any brand. Just to tell my part of the story.
I have a Yamaha SS125 which is a modest bike in terms of power and price. But still I've never felt like a fish out of water during my entire ownership since Nov 2012.
Once I broke my left rear view mirror and went to the showroom(Factory Outlet, Kolkata) unaware of their break timings. It was lunch time and I was supposed to wait for 30 minutes for a job of 2 minutes. One of the supervisors then took extra initiative by repairing the mirror himself thereby ensuring that it got replaced within next 5 minutes before he himself went to lunch. Apart from that, even if there is a slight delay in servicing, the Manager himself comes down and explains the reason and offers apology. These are very little things but goes a long way to love a brand.
Now the hilarious part. In the Kestopur area, all the bike showrooms are lined up next to each other. Just before purchasing my bike, I was visiting all the showrooms to have a look at various bikes. In the process, I went to the TVS showroom and was asking about the Starcity, Victor and Apache. I was wearing a simple tracksuit and a t-shirt. The moment I asked about the Apache, the salesperson began looking at my attire as if I can't afford an Apache. Or as if an Apache was too expensive as per my standards. I told him during our conversation that I work for W***O and can afford an Apache if not a Harley or a Ninja. But couldn't convince him as he was not interested in talking with me anymore(might be he was thinking that I was there just for time pass). Even the showroom manager was not different. I walked out of the TVS showroom feeling insulted and vowed not to go there again. Now, thanks to this thread, I remember that incident and this time it's not anger - it's laughter that's coming out.
No hard feelings for TVS though. May be the salesperson was not good enough. Wishing TVS a very good relationship with customers.

Hahaha there is certainly something fishy about the TVS guys even if you are sharing an experience bro I think I should have also mentioned that I was wearing a Camo pants and a T with a backpack on my back. Now, I am believed into thinking that this could also have gone against me as similar case is mentioned by you Next time I will try a Tuxedo when I visit them,

An interesting incident that took place today Its a bit lengthy but interesting.
As I am looking to buy a new bike for myself, I went to the TVS Motor Company's showroom named, Guru Nanak TVS in Amritsar.today to have a test ride of their Apache RTR 180cc ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) version bike. Here is the conversation that happened there. I am translating this in English for most of the friends to understand (actual conversation was in Punjabi)

Executive 1: Hello sir, how can I help you?
Me: I am looking for a test ride of your Apache 180 with ABS
Executive 1: Have a seat sir.
(I sat opposite him with Executive 2 sitting beside him, doing some paper work)
Executive 1: Sir, when are you planning to buy the bike?
                      Me: Within 2 weeks.
Executive 1: Ok, actually sir, the person who assists in test rides is not here right now so the test ride can not be conducted.

Me: (with obvious surprise on my face) When he is going to be around?

Executive 1: It'll take time sir. (his expressions said, "No Test Ride.")
Me: Look, I have come from very far to this TVS showroom, apart from the newly opened one (the owner is same though), where I had just gone and was directed to this showroom as they did not have the Apache 180 ABS bike with them for test ride.

Executive 1: Oh, you have come from that showroom. Sir, wait for 2 minutes.

Executive 1 whispered to Executive 2: He has come from that showroom, we should arrange test ride.
Executive 2 said something back which I could not hear.

Executive 1 to an employee (middle aged man in t-shirt and pants with Slippers on his feet): He has come for a test ride of Apache 180. The employee nodded and went in the direction where he was already going.

After a while he came back and said to Executive 1 "Ask him (some other
                      employee) about petrol."
                      Executive 1: You ask!
Employee: Ask Vikas (not remember what he actually called him) to ask him about petrol.
Executive 1: Go and ask him, he is going out!
Employee went after someone which I did not turn back to see who he was and again came back telling someone else to ask about petrol.

In my mind I was like.... What the hell is going on??!! I am waiting for a test ride and they are deciding about petrol to fill in the bike.

The employee came back and stood near a row of RTR Apaches and asked
Executive 2: Which one? (which one is RTR Apche 180cc)
Executive 2: 180 (I was wondering all the time)

Employee, standing with his hand over an Apache bike, to me: Sir, which colour do you like? ( I was like what in the world colour has to do with a test ride of the bike??)
Me: Colour doesn't matter. Just take an Apache RTR 180 with ABS.
The employee nodded and went away. I noticed that the bike on which he stood keeping his hand was a non ABS version ( as ABS was not mentioned on the side of the bike)

Me to Executive 2: Is this a 180 ABS version? (now here comes bomb)
Executive 2: No sir its 180 and its the same.
Me: How come it is same?
Executive 2: Sir, it is same like the ABS version when you drive it.
Me: But its not same when you stop it! Is it?
Executive 2 smiled and looked towards me as if I was joking and said, "Its same sir."
I said I want a test ride of Apache 180 with ABS as I wanted to see how ABS work.

Employee 2 said, " Tell me if you want a test ride of this or not." I was shocked at his behaviour and response and I said of course I don't want a test ride of this non-ABS version. He immediately shouted at the person who had gone to ask for petrol, "Come back, he doesn't want to take a test ride!"

                      I was like "How Pathetic!"

Employee 1 came back and asked me why I did not want the test ride now and I explained that I want it with ABS. He said they don't have that bike with them. (I was feeling irritated and was thinking why on first place they could not tell me this)
I asked them when I could expect it for a test ride and you know what he said?
He said, sir you can book the bike and then we can arrange it here. At that moment I felt like getting up immediately, never to go back to that place again. I mean you are telling me to book a bike for buying and then take a test ride?!! Have you lost it completely??
I explained to them that as far as I know TVS is the first Indian manufacturer to have introduced ABS in their bike for extra safety and for that particular reason I came to take a test ride of this particular model while making a decision to buy a new bike and you are telling me that ABS and non ABS version are same in riding!
he said, "Sir its upto you to decide."
I asked them to give me a call if at all it becomes available within two weeks for a test ride. With almost no interest at all he finally did what I said and noted my contact number. A BIG NO for the TVS Motor Company showroom Guru Nanak TVS, Putlighar, Amritsar from now on!

                      --END--

If this is the way TVS is going to treat its customers then Almighty knows where they are heading.

Even I didnt get a decent response from TVS when I went to their showroom opposite the Nissan TVS center. Forgot what its called.
