I also happen to have the same issue and went up to ASC they replaced by block piston in warranty as the engineer said its the culprit
But the sound is still present

Hey guys, I'm recently facing an issue, I've a second hand 2017 CBR250R ABS and it had run ~6500 KM's till date.

I'm currently running on Shell Rimula R4 Mineral oil (~700 KM's).

The issue - there is a loud noise from the front area (like a stone in a tin can) when I accelerate the bike, especially when without changing the gears, or on a linear incline.

And this happens only when the bike has become hot (like riding for half an hour and then this noise starts coming).

I haven't observed this noise coming doing the same things i.e. acceleration and/or steady incline when the bike hasn't reached ideal temperature (3 bars), it comes only after it has become reasonably hotter.

No specific RPMs or gears observed.

What can be the issue?

Hi All

This is my first post on xbhp so pardon me for any mistakes / omissions.

Previous bike GS150r bought in 2011 and still going strong.

Now bought a 2018 BSIV model cbr250 ABS, 7400km run for 1.5 L.

Immediate repairs: Had to replace the coneset and clutch wire, and tighten the chain.

First owner had serviced the bike at ASC and changed engine oil ( FS ) thrice but the bike feels rough, vibey and bit underpowered.

After reading through all wonderful posts in this thread which are full of great knowledge and information, I'm planning to use HDEO, just placed an order for 5 litre Rimula R4 from Amazon, would buy FZ oil filter from Yamaha dealer, gasket and drain bolt washer ( or is it O ring ? ) from a Honda dealer.

I tried earth wire mod myself, opened 2 LHS fairing ( below front seat at left side ) bolts with Allen key but the fairing didn't come off would appreciate if someone can share the steps or no of bolts required to open the LHS fairing required for earth wire mod. Most of the videos on youtube are for opening of full fairing, so not that useful.

I'm from Pimple Saudagar Pune, please also let me know of a good and experienced CBR mechanic / garage in the vicinity.

I am Happy to note you had done the DIY Earth mod, and on a new bike were able to feel a difference. The mod is mainly for people experiencing lackluster performance and bike idling and running problems. Usually CBRs which are near a coast or humid conditions, invariabley goes through this problem after some time, and the mod is a permanent fix for the Earth wire developing loose contact.

I've got it done by myself just now, with an electrician's help who does wiring for bikes.
I feel a mild improvement in acceleration and smoothness.
I've opened the left side fairing myself [emoji3]. I took the help of the mechanic to select the tools( long T handle spanner, Allen key). Got the 10 square mm Copper wire of approximately 1/2 metre connected between negative terminal and Rectifier. Haven't tried longer distances and only in B2B traffic. Try to find a capable local mech if your ASC mech is refusing to help you out in this. Have a look at how he opens the fairing and you will understand. Else you can YouTube on how to open the side fairings and then continue with your process.

Thank you sir. I've been a DIY guy for my other naked bikes of smaller capacity, but never opened a fairing for myself [emoji28]. Bike's not under warranty. It's expired a few days before.
I've been going through Shiv18's posts and of them I felt the need for earth wire mod and rimula treatment. It's easy for me to do the wiring part, except for opening the fairing. As it's a weekend I'll try to find a mechanic and get it done. If I'll not be able to find any one, I'll probably try to do the opening part myself and get back to you for any doubts regarding the tools required to open the left fairing and if they're readily available in our tool kit.

If your bike is in warranty, then wait till it gets over before doing the Earth Wire mod.
If you are a DIY person with enough Knowledge it is easily do able , if not get professional help.
Yes you have to remove the side fairing to do it.
Please see Shiv18's detailed photos and account of how he did it to get an idea.

Hello Guys.
I'm planning to get the earthing mod done by myself. Please shine some light if it requires me to open the left side fairing completely or can I locate it without opening the fairing.
If I need to open the fairing, please help me with the steps required. I tried getting it done from a mechanic, but they're refusing to touch my bike.
The service center guys ain't ready to do any mod from a stock bike.
