  • Dream-run ends - Bike stolen

    Hi Friends,

Yesterday, my bike was stolen from in front of Big Bazaar outlet in Bhubaneswar. Just two days after it completed an eight-hour non-stop marathon to Balasore(Orissa) and backL. I had parked the bike at around 7 PM and came back in 20 minutes; it was missing from the spot, right in front of the main gate of the outlet. I roped in two constables who were standing there 10 feet away while the bike was being stolen, and they wasted time running around. Later, they called up a patrol party, who wasted more time blaming me and flipping off others around there. Finally, I waited no longer and went to Infocity PS to file a report. To cut the story short, they took in a written report and asked me to deposit document copies the next day.

The cops are doing their work, it seems. A friend reported that a mechanic working on a stolen bike has been taken in from a nearby locality. I have very low hopes, but I do pray each moment I live to get the bike back.

The dream-run has come to an abrupt end. It feels like getting a limb severed off. Do remember to put an extra lock on you bike even if you are letting it away from eyesight for just five minutes, just to be on the safe side.

Oh damn! Did you lock it or not? And where did you park it? Was it stolen from the parking lot? This is sad; I can very well understand what you must be feeling right now, because I have gone through the same emotions myself, although, I did get my P200 back within 24 hours.

I do sincierly hope that you get your machine back.

O man ! this i so sad , I hope you get it back soon . Although I hope the bike was insured , please speak to the insurance co. also and try filing a claim , they might put some pressure on the cops to find the bike.

It was through your CBZ that I was visiting places all over Orissa. I hope that you get your bike back.

That is really bad. Hold on friend!! Statistics from past events say that if vehicles are stolen, the chances of their recovery is almost 65 % on the very next two days. Hope that the local police are helpful enough.

Thanks Aryan. I was happy when I saw that you got back your bike. Hope the story repeats here as well. The bike was on handle lock, parked outside the gate of Big Bazaar. I was in a hurry and missed the board that said the parking was illegal. But at the same time, fifteen other bikes were parked there and I didn't think twice.

Thanks niks. I am trying to shift weight on the cops, just hope that they respond accordingly.

I hope my baby falls in the 65%...The rest has to be left to the police. Thanks for the encouraging stats Niranjan.

The bike is under third-party insurance; does this mean I won't be able to place a claim on the loss? Someone please explain the funda of third-party insurance.

very sad and shocking to know dude.. you sure will get your ride back. meanwhile i suggest you to do a through check in all the two wheeler parking stands at the railway station / bus stand etc... you know the common pay and park stands... many times the guys who steal two wheelers leave them in these lots and wait for a day or two for the search to cool down and later on come and pick up the bike.

My friend's p 150 was stolen and when searched we found it parked in the last line of the railway station pay and park slot. Good Luck dude.. lets hope for the best.

I think your vehicle would have been towed away by the cops. Just go to the nearby PS&bribe them a bit. Oh yeah, don't forget to check in their parking whether it is there.
A similar thing happened with my friend's CBZ Classic outside my building at about 2 in the night. We got it back the next morning by paying Rs.500 to the cops!
                            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

^^^ Quite possible it was picked up by cops. But why advocating bribery dude?? Remember, the giver of bribes is as quilty as the receiver. You paid this 500 bucks for what???

The bike is under third-party insurance; does this mean I won't be able to place a claim on the loss? Someone please explain the funda of third-party insurance.
Yes, you cant make any claim for your own loss... For that you need to buy a comprehensive insurance policy.
