had a YBX b4 zma and was pretty buzzy even at 40 so i went ahead and installed a RXZ rear sprocket, stock ws 44 and this was 39...quote:Originally posted by bunnypunia
will be tryin out a bigger fr or smaller rear sprocket soon. my chain set has almost worn out. but jus like everyone else, one prob is croppin up again n again. zma's chain is a biggie.. will it do fine with a smaller rear sprocket? d fear of chain comin of? .. sm one plz try it out asap n post the results here ..
-is their ne other way of increasin the top end (n hence relaxed cruising)
i know this sounds too much for that puny to handle but this was the only option available, and believe me, she took it pretty well and the drop in performance was hardly felt.
why i m telling this to u is because once this was done, the chain proved be too long so the mech simply removed few links from it and from then she never missed a beat.
hence i assume that this holds true for zmaz as well, but if u go for a bigger front rather than a smaller rear, then u might be needing a longer chain.
btw, anybody knows of a good fabricator in delhi who cud get a sprocket done?

why go for all this crap i know it from a geniune source that hh motors is waiting for a competition for zma and then they will upgrade the zma as the nx4 has been cancelled due to agreement with honda and according to new info top power would be from 22 bhp to above and yes this would increase the top speed and also price by another 22k and yes zma owners like us will have the option of upgrading ours but the price has noot been decided on but this guy told me of around 7k would be alone for the sticker work and rear disk break ..... so guys please wait before ruinin ur bike

@sameel : its "brake" and not "break"
and we r not discussin here for power.. we r discussin abt a relaxed top end here.

Methinks so too Zaid. I remember Ricci givin me pointers on riding wid a group!!! Ricci really plays safe. Hats off to you Ricci!!!

I will be refitting my ZMA with new sprockets i'm probably gonna be changing the front one to a 13T sprocket, only if you are changing both the front n rear sprocket is the whole set including chain n stuff required or else if changing a single sprocket the original chain can be reatined and used.
@ricci I came to knoe that ur the sprocket guru so am gonna be contacting you pretty soon for some queries hope you dont mind and can spare me ur no if possible would really help.
Also guys have seen ricci's driving whilst meeting fo rteh lonawala g2g last mnth havent seen anybody ride better and safer than him, keep it up ricci. It doesn\'t matter if you win by an inch or a mile!!! Winning\'s winning!!

@Rohan :
with some things it's wise to play safe . You have only one body , so keeping it safe should always be a top priority ( yes , yes , after minor crashes I always inspect my beloved for damage , as any biker would ) ....but until medical science achieves its goals of being able to replace body parts or entire bodies , it's wise to be safe .
Zaid : good luck with your custom sprocket ; I'd thought more Mumbai guys would take interest in resprocketing the Karizma and this shop where you're getitng them made would see more customers , with other bikes at least there's already different sprockets for the chain size .
Keep updates , I might get one later .Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

I've tried a 38 tooth rear(which bike's speocket I'm not sure, just bought it from the spares shop) on my ZMA & tried it on an old airstrip. The speedo read is about 140kph. Initial power is not too bad, only with pillion is it6 noticeable. Like to know the real top speed, but since i don't have a speed mmeasureing device, speedo reading is all i've got.TREY

Hi,
I own a 2006 Karizma,
Modifications - Fitted a relay and upgraded headlight wiring to handle bulbs of higher wattage - currently running a 55/60.
Inlet and exhaust ports were smoothened by an expert hand, nothing radical, but definite increase in port velocity. Rest was stock.
Bike now felt heavily undergeared as 120 kmph came in at 8000-8100 rpm but was waaaaay too fast in getting there.
Purchased pulsar 200 chain sprocket having a config of front 14T and rear 38T. Rear was a direct fit but front needs to be machined to be fitted.
Bike feels much more positive now, 125kmph comes up in 7800 but does not rev further in fifth gear, But performance to be noted is in fourth gear, She will 120kmph on the speedo in 4th at 9100 rpm sustained and there is no hint of stress from the engine.
She will still wheelie and outruns every other stock bike we tested on dirt/tarmac - uphill. (Not in the same order thought hehe)
Carb/jetting is still stock. Air filter element was replaced with 2mm foam off a RX100 filter. Spark plug condish suggests its runnin very good for my altitude(sea level). Didnt feel lean anywhere in the rev range.
Work in progress - K&N needs to purchased, after which jetting needs to be sorted out. Clutch worn out due to heavy abuse, hence Clutch has been suitably modified for dirt and harder use. Plates cost a bomb.
Suspension modification begins today. Increasing travel in front and rear to 9 inches and 7 inches respectively. Focusing on trying to improve rebound damping efficiency.
Should be a go anywhere do everything kind of a bike when done...
Cheers,
Pratap
P.S. - Sorry to hijack the thread like this but regarding the sprocketing, it does feels very positive, but then fifth gear feels like overdrive on an uphill. If you are chasing a higher top end I wouldn't suggest it on a stock bike.Always make sure your chain is adjusted. - From experience.

Interesting information. You should've tried Karizma front sprocket with 38 tooth pulsar rear sprocket.
