How would you define a safe bike?

None of these come with safety features

you are at risk as much as on a splendor,as you would be on a busa

In general, the bikes with leg/crash guard are safer than the ones without it(it will save damage to you and your bike if you crash)

When it comes to braking, the bikes with both front and rear brakes(Ninja, R15, ZMR, P220, RTR 180) are obviously better than the others.

Can't comment about the safety in terms of handling and build quality.

It's a nice topic I believe to put some well thought thoughts and views forward.

Well, first of all, do u mean any bike in India? or an Indian bike? ...there's a difference u see! Since we now have international sensations like the R1, Blade and Busa officially selling here.

Anyways, among superbikes I would say that Honda 09 Fireblade might be one of the safest bikes to ride in different riding conditions in India, considering that it supposedly have the best ABS system among motorcycles around the world.

As far as my knowledge goes, the best of the best testers have praised Honda's ABS system and how much it aids safer braking and eventually making the bike overall safer to ride, especially for the ones not too experienced and under emergency braking. Also considering the fact that Honda's are among easiest to ride for varied riders. I must give it to Honda for this! And coupled with fantastic handling, it is easily among the safest bikes sold in India

Now, our beloved Indian motorcyles ...well, Yamaha R15 should be among the top or at the top, and equally good might be the RTR 180. The new ZMR should close the gap I guess.

R 15 the most balanced bike. Extremely good chasis and supension accompanied with the best tyres.

i think bike doesn't decide if its safe...IMO, the biker and his sense of riding decide if its safe overall..

as one of our member's signature goes, it all depends on the nut that connects the handlebar and the saddle. That nut decides how safe or unsafe that bike is.

You left the RTR 160Fi (though rtr 160 carb comes with optional rear disc brake may be included in the list)

I would like to add Fz-16 as one of the safest bike in India mainly due to its wide rear tyres and front tyres, huge disc brakes and 41mm front forks... all these aid to very quick stopping.

Due to large contact patch at the rear, you can go over the sand confidently the bike wont loose traction, so is the case when you are taking a turn over a big lump of cow-dung. Cant see any other bike doing this apart from Royal Enfield 500 LB

best handling, braking, build quality etc does not exactly make a safe bike.
