I have used the image you provided for easy reference.

This is as far as my knowledge goes. Kindly correct me if I am technically wrong. . Also trail braking is done by front brake and the rear brake is just used to stabilize the bike.
Ok. I did not know that the 'ABS sensor pick up rings' are called pulsar rings. Thanks for the info.

Now that I got your point; While you are essentially right that the slots should not be obstructed, the scenario you have described is valid if all the slots are completely covered and the sensor is unable to pick up a signal. The sensors are sensitive enough to identify slots that are even partially covered. So it does not make difference if the rings are partially covered.

As to your point that sensor pick up rings are incorrectly mounted, please check the picture below of sensor pick up ring mounted on the Duke 390 where the sensor ring is mounted solidly directly on to the disc plate. Also notice that here too some of the slots are partially covered.

As far as your point on trail braking is concerned I was just pointing out that Pushkar is so confident with the system not locking the rear brake that he uses it fearlessly.
