Thanks for the suggestion Sayank. I'd read about these military boots somewhere in the Leh/Laddakh threads too, but the problem is that I don't seem to find them in Chennai.

Anyways, my relatives live in Salt lake, Kolkata. You have any idea where they can source it for me?

Till then, making do with my Woodland shoes...

A month later, ordered knee guards and elbow guards from ebay. Both combined, set me back by 750, including shipping. (Fox riding gear.)

Then, in Jan '12, gifted myself an Alpinestars (Planet DSG).
A week later, got myself pro biker gloves (ebay)

Cost me 500, but now prices have been slashed.

I have 2 helmets, one Studds Ninja (open face type) and a Steelbird (full face type). I must admit that the Steelbird is a superb prodct. It has great layer of protection, air vents and packs your face beautifully.
I got the full face helmet from Honda dealers for 1500 INR.

Now, I'm looking for touring boots. Planning a >1000 km trip.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks.
      Happy riding!

Hmmm.... Orazo... Decent stuff... Its website mentions xbhp as well.
Its not the exact biker's footwear, but is a steal at that price! Pretty vfm.

Shall buy one soon if money crunch still exists...

        Thanks a lot Satyen...

Divya Sharan, how is the quality of the Fox Guards ? They come in one size fits all ? I wanted to order this from eBay, however backed down because I wasn't sure of the quality.

Satyen, do you own a pair from them ? I wanted to check out their quality and long lastingness. They have sent me a list of owners in Chennai, however those people stay quite far away from my place. Old Fox has given great feedback on these shoes. I am just wary these days, though I am basically an online shopper for most of my needs .. somehow, not comfortable ordering Bike accessories without seeing or feeling them

I dont own them, a fellow chap from Mumbai owns it and he is sensible enough to be honest about it. He says its a boon for the city commutes that he does and pretty decent for touring.

Thanks Satyen. I have a boot which I just bought for 1500, it looked big enough, the toe area. However after 3 days of riding and shifting gears, the left shoe's toe area has gone in . Guess I'll have to buy the Orazo one, just hope I can wear these to work as well.

^You do get shifting socks for that. You could make one using a simple woolen or a leather piece!

What i think is, if someone is spending 50-60k+ on bike then he should spend at least 1.5k at Helmet for sure without any hesitation... Helmet is very important (most important thing) ...

Ride at any speed in Mumbai on most of road you see divider. even if you fall at 30kmph on divider you will suffer lots of head injuries but if you are wearing helmet then you might get save by it (99% of time) ...So Helmet is necessary for everybody but a Good quality helmet (AGV, VEGA, LS2, WRANGLER or MONSTER etc) ....we got arms & legs to save your kidney or stomach before falling directly on divider or stone but head got no option then to bang it there directly ..)

One of my friend died in a minor accident at speed of around 20kmph, Bike fall on divider while pillion thrown at left side of bike rider got stuck in bike & fall directly on Divider causing his Brain Damage badly .. Was in hospital for 3 days & then he rest in peace !!! (Pillion just got one bruises on his left arm)...

And I personally believe every Bike company should raise there bike price by say 1.5-2k & should provide a Good Quality helmet along with bikeas mandatory..... And if someone wants more better quality helmet they can pay them that extra amount of money & can get the helmet, Tie-Up with helmet company & like wise a good option for both Bike & Helmet Company
                      What say? Anybody ?

Fox is available in shops in Mumbai at Rs.500 and I have heard AXO is better ( just heard not personal idea or experience ) and I just found an online shop where it is available for Rs.900. Sounds like a good deal to me. Considering getting them real soon.

                        Axo Elbow & Knee Guard

Fox ones are available (currently not in stock ) on this site for Rs.550/-

Even the prices of other stuff like Alpinestar and Probiking gloves (365 for the ones I bought for 375 two months back from a store ) are reasonable.
Though I got late in replying but still it can be of help for someone who has started collecting the stock of gears.

Err, sorry for me replying late. I missed this thread somehow. FOX and AXO, both are good. Though FOX is cheaper, it has served me well. No issues so far. Fits well enough. Even my friends bought FOX and they're considerably larger than me, but they have no issues with the size.
