Have you tuned your carb or something? I have a year old TBTS & the maximum mileage i have got is around 42 that too on a highway...If you can get 45 in city then 48-50 is what you should get in highway....you sure that it 45?

The reason I'm asking this to first hear how the thumping on my motorcycle is and then choose which one sounds heavy and bassy. I don't like loud thumps...heavy is good for me. Any idea brothers? No carb tuning done, I only drive my bike and use the petrol only from one trusted bunk in Miyapur! and we need to drive bull like a BULL, not live the pulsars or APaches! replace ur engine oil every 4000 thousand KMS and clean the airfilter at the same time and KEEP UR BULL CLEAN , then ur BULL also ROCKS! and u can find all the RE parts at Ramkoti circle the shop name is Royal automobiles and beside the shop u have an OLD bull mechanic very affordable another shop is at siddemberbazar and the shop name is Delhi auto parts! u can go for the Indore Silencer thumping will be high if u raise ur bike and the thump will be normal if u drive at norma speeds!!

I think the thump differs on the Sans Goldstar silencer! try to check the thump before u go for it and the silencer may cause problems if you are a off riding freak!!!!

Hi Guys....I got myself a TBTS 6 months back...Its been an awesome ride so far...Smooth cruise...Clocked 4500Kms...Now am thinking of changing the silencer for more thump.
Need some advice. A lot of places I have heard about the short bottle silencer, goldstar, indore, std 350 silencer...whats the difference between all of these.

Which one do you recommend? Does RE Service center stock any of the silencers? Need help guys

              Help in choosing silencer

              Hi Guys,
I own a E350 cc 2012, completing 3k kms now i am planning to change the stock silencer to somethig nice and healthy, one of my friend is changed to san inc goldstar with con baffles but its too very lound and hard for me. When i checked with the service station, they advised me on something with glass woll priced at 4800rs and i find that also to be very loud.
I am here to get some tips on a silencer that sounds a little bit more loud and thumpy than the stock silencer without compromising on the pickup or mileage.
              Kindly help!

                Re: Help in choosing silencer

                Hi guys,

I have a Classic 350 with UCE engine that has done 5100 kms till now. I am looking to change the stock exhaust now for a meatier sound. I dont like my Re to shout like a banshee...just want a deep and sweet thump with a deep bass... I have done a lil research, and now I am confused between the following :
                • short bottle neck with glass wool from SANS
                • a goldie from SANS
                • or a WILDBOAR

Another thing. I really love the old retro look on the RE. So i was thinking of changing the L-shaped stock bent pipe that comes fitted with Classic nowadays, and replace it with a C-shaped bent pipe that used to come earlier? I asked my meachanic, and he said he can do some welding and change the bent pipe. My question is : Is it recommended? I dont want to harm my engine in the long run. And also will the WILD BOAR or GOLDIE fit with the old Bent pipe?

Also I was thinking of painting the exhaust and the bent pipe to black color (I have a silver Classic 350). Any idea how it would look? What paint needs to be done on an exhaust and bent pipe?

For real bassy thump you should change the bend pipe to round shape one, i did it around a year ago and done 20000 kms and there is no problem with engine.
Not only it looks good but also the thump is very close to CAST IRON bullet.

Hi maninderz...thanks for your reply...thats exctly what i have in mind...i like the c-shaped bend pipe, which goes well with the short bottle...what i want to know is how did your mechanic fit the c-shaped bend pipe on to the new UCE engine? from what I have heard the dia of the new UCE engine bore head is bigger that the old cast iron one, and thats why it doesnt fit into the crank.. my mechanic said he could do a welding job and fit the c-shaped bend pipe. what i want to know is could that impact the engine or thrust in any way? Expers....please share your opinions ...

Re: Change of silencer for a NEW royal enfield bullet 350 UCE

                      Hello Ashraf,

What you desire IS NOT RECOMMENDED because of numerous technical reasons apart from the obvious LAW VIOLATION perspective. Please dont get me wrong but if you ride your MC over long distances & over many states & into unknown policed places, its bare minimum to be on the right side of law & avoid unnecessary observation. A C bend on a new Enfield is very very uncommon & easily identifiable by RTO/police Officials of any place, particularly since they are switching to the new Enfields as well.

Technically, it's not rational to pay money (so much) for a technology & throw it away for a downgradation (if I may say that). The bend in the newer Enfields as also the last generation Bullets (CI's) come with an inbuilt Catalytic Converter attached with a pulse air valve for extra burning of unburnt carbon in the exhaust system that is an excellent feature (albeit not modern in competition sense). True it does constrict the passage, hence the reduced flow out; but it increases the engine's efficiency (thing to consider on long rides). Replacing the bent tube for a old one will remove this technology with a redundant non-functional air valve.

Secondly, fit & finish of any mechanic (or even most authorised service Centre's) will NEVER MATCH re standards due to obvious unavailability of state of art tools with them & most importantly performance testing means. So while a bike will run normal with no obvious problems for the time being, chances of leakage, rusting, overheating, more catastropic failures or a simple performance downgrade as most probable.

If sound is very important, people are riding with goldstar-copy silensers that give quite a good sound I must say (although not a personal choice). In my opinion, one should do only so-much for "sound" alone & nothing more.

About painting on exhaust, it will only prevent heat dissipation & hence let your engine run hotter. Also, I dont think any paint would withstand that regular heating-cooling expansion-contraction cycle without cracking.

Take this from an old Bullet fellow who has had his share of Bullets ! Its about riding ONLY, not for SHOW !

                      Take care. Ride safe.

Thanks a lot Anirban for your beautiful and well explained reply. Really appreciate it. I am sold now. Although I wanted to make the above changes, but was apprehensive about the impact on the engine in the long run, becuase what I had in mind has rarely been tried by anyone I trust your knowledge, and loved your last line ' Its about riding ONLY, not for SHOW !' I will go ahead and intsall a Wild Boar exhasut for better sound (i dont really like the look of the Goldie) . Thanks again !!!

Yeah ! I understand what you are feeling. Many years back, I came across this used 500cc CI Engine in regal condition over Hitchcock's ! I wanted to buy this as was fanatically searching for a 500cc RHS (had already gone OOP). Wanted to mate this on a RE Chassis easily available in grey market. However, came to know about the draconian principle of Indian RTOs in not registering Custom builts unless from a renowned (read RICH) auto house.
Now, not going into the moral part of their decision, this appeared plain ******* to me !
Later came across this RE Interceptor on sale while overseas ! What a motorcycle that was ! However Indian Laws again prohibited import/entry of 2nd hand or used Motorcycles that were more than 3 years old ! I mean what the .... is their problem ?
Or, was it my problem of trying to be ambitious in this innovation wise DRY country ?
However all this came with a silver lining. I kept riding my 350cc CI & fell more in love with this awesome partner that boasted nothing but kept running wherever I took it to.
Long story short, while in India, think like the Indians .

                            .
Speaks volumes of how an average motor head in India is forced to think..we really are a country that has been forced to starve for more beautiful engines. There is no dearth of talent in this country. Starting from young urns who join their fathers Royal Enfield workshops, and learn to fall in love with this wonderful machine even before they learn to follow the opposite sex. And then there are these super engineers who know what they are capable of building, but are forced to kill their dreams because of s***y country policies. For example I have been following this young engineer from New Delhi who had this dream of building a Twin engine RE, but found no support here in India. He went abroad, quit his job, and built this master piece. People all over the world are now going ga-ga over it, and requesting him to start a own-self-styling kit for this baby. Read his story here ( Royal Enfield V-Twin – The Musket). Now whose loss is this?? Its a sad story. Not for him, but for us as a country

I have done all the replacement at home. You will have to procure neck section of bend pipe same as the UCE(I welded my old pulsar's neck section ) and then weld it on CI's bend pipe and then just fitting the bend into engine.
                              It's pretty easy job.
                              And regarding harms to engine
I have done 20000+ kms on this setup and there's no leak, no engine problem. Bike runs a lot smooth and has better performance and it has very good thump at speeds of 40-50 kms, almost like CI.
                              Cheers!!

Fantastically written , the man i think is Aniket Vardan, we only value things when they are stamped made in this country or made in that country, if an brilliant young engineer can do this kind of job why not engineers at Royal Enfield were able to make this engine, or they have never thinked of making V-twin.
